ETHR is a space for artists to turn raw ideas into something tangible. I work alongside artists to shape, distort and refine their vision through production, recording and mixing.
Behind ETHR is over a decade of making, recording and exploring music. I graduated from the University of Newcastle with a double major in Music Production and Performance, with a strong academic record throughout my studies. If you’re looking for someone to help shape your sound, get in touch and let’s make something worth hearing.

Interview with ETHR Studio
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That you need to have expensive gear to make good music. I started on a cheap laptop with free sample packs and FL Studio tutorials on YouTube. Sometimes, great sounding music comes from places you’d never expect.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What their inspirations are and some examples of songs that have the same vibe they’re looking for. Having reference tracks can be important in communicating your ideas to the producer.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise a great experience and product. I’m easy-going and don’t mind spending as long as it takes to achieve your sound.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love exploring new sounds and textures. I love making sounds that makes me feel good. And I love collaborating with people who have different experiences and sounds.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: For me currently, I have to go digital. As someone with not a lot of space to work with, the ability to achieve almost any sound with my laptop is what makes my sounds so versatile. However, analog is amazing and I’d totally go analog if I had the space.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: The Love Letters EP by So She Can Fly. I was given the opportunity to record, produce and mix the whole EP and had a great time with the boys. I think the EP came out great and I’m keen to work with them on their next project.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Vibe and chemistry is important. Having an open mind and being ready to have a good fun will result in a great time and great product.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: James Miguel. He makes incredible music with incredible people. One of my life long friends and collaborators and also business partner.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Clean and versatile. I don’t like to use TONS of reverb and delay. Tastefully to keep the mix from washing out. I do like distortion though. Again, tastefully. Distortion doesn’t have to mean high energy and loud. Distortion can bring texture out where you wouldn’t expect it. My style is versatile in that I’m good at making something sounds good even without much experience in the genre or sound.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: I need my laptop with Ableton (is that one or two?). A drum kit. As a drummer if I didn’t have one I’d be making one out of whatever I had. Decent speakers. I despise not being able to hear properly. Becoming hard of hearing is a genuine fear of mine. Splice. Splice is not only a source of samples for me but also inspiration. Sometimes I will just flick through splice samples while my track is playing in the background, looking for interesting sounds and textures. Caffeine. My creative juices flow better when I have a drink to consume.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I’ve been creating music as a passion project for over 10 years. My brother burned a skrillex CD for me and told me to make music like that. That eventually evolved into needing vocals, into moving away from dubstep into pop-ier sounds. In 2021 I attended the University of Newcastle for music production and performance, met a lot of cool people, life-long collaborators. Now I’m just wanting to make cool music with as many people as possible.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would love to work with Jon Bellion to see how his mind works both in a creative and mechanical sense.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Let’s sit down and discuss the project first; timeline, budget, goals, etc. then let’s have fun. Collaborating and making music is the best feeling and really I’m here to make good music and have a good time while doing it.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I’m currently working on my own album. It’s a hyper-punk album in which I’m doing everything from drums to vocals with some features from my friends.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Don’t just listen to what others say to do. Find YOUR style. If it sounds good, it is good.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I usually make hyper-punk and all sorts of edm but I’ve worked in a wide range of genres throughout the years.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Making a mix sound full.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I have a strong ability to add ear candy to a song without changing the vibe!
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My studio runs from a small room in my house. Don’t let the size fool you, I have powerful gear to help you get your song to your desired sound!
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Jon Bellion inspires me with his clean and intense mixes.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Music production, recording, mixing and mastering.
