I provide help for melodies, lyrics and chord progressions backed by over 10 years of expertise. Unlike many others who compose purely from instinct, my musical knowledge is based on years of study - I'm an expert in music theory, and WHY a good melody sounds the way it does. I'm also a strong lyricist, with a background in English studies.

I graduated from my Music degree with First-Class Honours, winning a prize for gaining the top mark in my entire year group. My specialism was composition - and with the theory skills I've gained, along with over a decade's experience as a multi-instrumentalist (violin, guitar, trumpet, piano and vocals), I'm a highly knowledgeable and experienced writer of melodies and chord progressions.
However, it's easy to get caught up in trying to be overly complex - I balance this knowledge with a good instinct for restraint and catchiness. I love writing melodies that sound simple at first, but contain interesting musical complexity below the surface, and that's the surface I can provide; I can inject your chord progressions with a bit of added colour, and write a nuanced and precise melody to capture the essence of the emotion your song is aiming to convey.
I'm also an A* English Language student, with a passion for creative writing - I've been writing lyrics for my own songs for over 6 years, and I love writing with a central hook that each line is focused around. I can help you with finding that one central phrase that brings the whole chorus together, or to expand on your ideas in a second verse or bridge.
