Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

A: I mixed and mastered an EP that contained 6 slightly cohesive songs that had some different production styles (some more stripped back, some more layered), and different influences from song to song. In the end, I had a product that sounded somewhat cohesive but allowed each song to be unique in their own styles. I struggled with the balance between elevating the songs and being creative and ultimately found the right balance with polishing the songs but taking creative liberties with certain mix choices that gave each song or part a unique sound.

Q: Analog or digital and why?

A: I prefer using analog gear to create the initial recorded sound of each project and then using digital plugins to enhance and polish the recordings.

Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

A: I promise a positive attitude about each project and a drive to create a project that sounds polished and unique to you.

Q: What do you like most about your job?

A: That I get to work on various types of projects and challenge myself to learn new things each time I get a project. Being creative within each project is also very fun and allows me to enjoy the work that I do which is so important to me, as well as balancing creativity with what the client wants.

Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

A: What stage is the project at (writing, ready to be recorded, mixed, or mastered, etc)? What influences do you have and how can we make the project sound unique to you?

Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

A: Marcus miller jazz bass, Epiphone les paul guitar, my laptop for pro tools/plugins, a neumann tlm 103 microphone, and sony mv1 mixing headphones

Q: How would you describe your style?

A: Aggressive sounding mixes and recording choices that allow instruments to really stick out (I can be adaptable but primarily I work in rock and heavier genres)

Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

A: I typically work on rock, alternative, and metal music, but am willing to work on other genres if presented.

Q: What's your strongest skill?

A: Mixing and editing music and other audio projects

Q: What do you bring to a song?

A: I bring a planned, methodical, and polished touch to a song as well as a drive to make each project sound unique.

Q: What's your typical work process?

A: A planned out process is ideal- first organizing the session, going over influences, and creating an ideal sound before recording or mixing and then polishing as the project goes on.

Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

A: My home setup is an interface, my Pro Tools setup, adam audio t7v monitors, guitars, basses, amplifiers, and guitar/bass pedals.

Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

A: Some engineers and artists that inspire me are Jack White, Joe Barresi, Steven Wilson, Ken Andrews, and Trent Reznor.

Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

A: Recording, mixing, mastering, editing, and post production for rock, alternative, and metal music (am open to working on other genres), as well as film related projects. I also offer guitar and bass playing services for clients.
