Berklee-trained multi-instrumentalist delivering mandolin tracks with modern-genre versatility. J.D. has toured internationally and domestically performing with Amy Gallatin & Stillwaters, Roger Williams, Nathan Day, High Rock Mountain, Ricky Mier, the Hot Flashes, Peddler's French, Matt Scutchfield & Bittergrass, Fiddlers Three, and many more.

J.D. Williams is a freelance fiddler and mandolinist from New England, USA. With a foundation in Suzuki, Bluegrass and Newgrass, this multi-instrumentalist weaves those influences into a wide variety of genres. A 2015 graduate of Berklee College of Music (Professional Music major, Roots minor), having majored in Professional Music with a minor in American Roots Music, J.D. now makes his home in New York City.

I play an F4-style LeBlanc soprano mandolin, an A5-style Eastman MDO305 octave mandolin, and a custom-built Scutchfield violin.
Studio computer is running GarageBand version 10.4.11 (build version 5961), using a Volt 276 interface from Universal Audio. For capturing sound I use a large-diaphragm PreSonus M7 microphone, but I also have on hand a Shure SM-57, a large-diaphragm Shure PGA27, an sE7 small-diaphragm condenser, and the LeBlanc mandolin's natural-sounding K&K twin internal pickup if you have any personal preference on the mic used.
