I specialise in mixing and mastering for rock and alternative projects, but I have a good sense of other genres as well. I also make my own music under the name "SpectraViV"!
I am a musician, composer, producer, mixing, and mastering engineer who goes under the stage name "SpectraViV". I have been studying for a Bachelor of Arts in Sound Production (2024-2026), and have more years of production experience under my belt.

Interview with SpectraViV
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: This would be my album 'The Uprising'. I did everything on it, besides drums, because I can't play drums lol.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I'm working on my own album at the moment as my last college project, a 1 hour long concept album.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I've always been in the digital realm so I don't have many thoughts on analogue equipment and processes.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise to provide high quality masters and mixes
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Just listening to music and letting the music guide me, it's quite fun actually.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: I can't exactly fix recording mistakes, so if that's present in your multi tracks, I'll probably ask you for a better take.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Make sure to send me good quality multi-tracks so that I can work as efficiently as possible,
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: The most important things to me is my computer, my interface, my headphones, my bass and my electric guitar.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started music production in 2017 and worked my way up through high school doing the best that I can, my mixing skills only started to become good when I started studying a Bachelor of Arts in Sound Production, my majors being Studio Production and Music Production (comprising of composition, engineering, mixing, mastering, etc).
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I would say it varies depending on genre, sometimes my sound can be quite floaty and dream-like, other times it can be heavy hitting.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Honestly if I had the chance to mix a KGatLW album I'd be ecstatic.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Just let your thoughts guide you and you'll get where you want to be as you progress.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I like working on 60's style psychedelic rock mostly (as well as neo-psych), as it's the genre I generally tend to listen to. I've also mixed pop music here and there and heavier rock music. Doom metal is also quite a nice genre to work with.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is being able to work with clients effectively and bring out what they need in their music, however weird it may be.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I believe I have a relatively unique sound that I'm going for with my mixes, relatively punchy drums (if it fits), vocals and guitars that sit well in the mix, finally resulting in a mix that can be quite heavy if required.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Import multi-tracks and just start working with it, I let the vibe of the song guide me to the final mix and/or master.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I'm just a girl with a computer and headphones, using Pro Tools for my mixing (Arturia plugins heavily involved along with stock PT plugins, they're quite good). When I make my own music I tend to work in Ableton only.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Honestly, the work George and Giles Martin have done with The Beatles are inspiring to me. In terms of other musicians I take a lot of inspiration from various big and small artists, from popular like 'Nirvana' to relatively unknown like 'The Violet Mindfield' & 'Ultimate Spinach'
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I'm mostly a mixing and mastering engineer, that's pretty much my strong suit, but I can do many other things (just ask!)

I was the Mixing Engineer, Mastering Engineer, Producer, Songwriter, Instrumentalist in this production
