Q: What are you working on at the moment?

A: Currently working on an EP of my rage beats, inspired by Yeat and such. Also working on a project where I sample tracks from each Showa Godzilla movie and make boom bap beats out of them, heavily inspired by MF DOOM/King Geedorah.

Q: Analog or digital and why?

A: Analog because I believe there's no way to truthfully recreate that analog sound using digital tools, and I just love the way it sounds.

Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

A: That music producers are all-knowing and have all the musical knowledge. I know basic theory but besides that I'm mostly self taught and I just make what I think sounds dope.

Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

A: I was 15 and didn't really know what I wanted to do in life. At this time, I started discovering new music and really expanding my music taste. Artists like The Weeknd and Kanye West were mindblowing. The Kanye West documentary Jeen-Yuhs is what truly sparked my interesting in producing music. Since then, I've been producing music for around 3 and a half years.

Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

A: It's very difficult to pick one singular artist, but if I had to pick, it'd be Michael Jackson. I was born in 2008, so I never truly got to live in a world where he was alive. He's like a myth to me, he doesn't seem real. An artist currently alive I'd love to work with is Baby Keem.

Q: Can you share one music production tip?

A: There will be days where you're on a roll and constantly have new amazing ideas for songs and the tracks you're producing sound incredible and hard as fuck, but there will also be days where you cannot come up with a chord progression or good sounding key and it'll frustrate you, and by the end of the day you have nothing new you created. With good days, there will inevitably be bad days. Always keep pushing and never let these bad days get to your head.

Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

A: I love producing a wide variety of music, I can't say that I work on one singular genre. The ones I love the most to produce are trap, hip-hop, boom bap, 90's R&B, pop, synthpop, new jack swing, house, and ambient. I also like to take inspiration from one or multiple of those genres and kind of make my own sound.

Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

A: At the moment I use a high end laptop for music production. I use FL Studio 26. I also have some standard headphones. I plan on getting a separate MacBook solely for music, as the laptop I use now is also my personal laptop I use for college and gaming. Along with that, I also really want to get better professional level headphones and a new MIDI keyboard.

Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

A: The artist who really inspired me to start producing music was Kanye West. After I saw his documentary Jeen-Yuhs, it was so eye-opening and powerful seeing his come-up from just a kid in Chicago with a dream to a pro music producer working with the likes of Jay-Z and Dame Dash. Then he went crazy and I stopped following him. Currently, I'm very inspired by MF DOOM, Michael Jackson, Baby Keem and Denzel Curry.
