Interview with VONGEE
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Being able to freely be creative and expressive
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: What's your process of creating a song? I usually tell them I start with going somewhere that makes me happy. Then I channel a specific experience in my life that was profound in one way or another. I oftentimes, start with nature as I can generate lyrics based on what I'm seeing, like physical objects then it just gets more refined from there once I add a bass line.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That because I don't have a lot of followers I'm less competent.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Know what you want? Or at least a general idea, it helps me easily have something to work with, it also just genuaily adds a piece of you in it, no matter what, you'll leave feeling great that the ideas I came up with are consistent and/or surrounding your thought process for the song
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Not sure how long it would be, but let's just say a week lol! Old school mp3 player, headphones, Water, FOOD, and a nice little tent.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: My career path is nursing right now, doing stuff like this on the side to fund my education. If I ever got discovered I'd take music over nursing. But as a planner, I've been trying to be prepared to pursue music more, but also having a solid financial foundation. What if I don't ever have someone or entity who would invest in me as an artist? It's important I can still be okay.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Calm, Cool, Collected, Dramatic, Reserved, Quick Thinker
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: John legend because I've always admired his story and he's just always been a “Legend” of mine because of the “hurt” he can create with his voice. Very intimate, yet cinematically grand. It's really his choices vocally!
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Robert Glasper, John Legend, Doechii, Stevie Wonder, Timbaland, Lucky Daye, CHLOE,
