Interview with Brian Jon

  1. Q: How would you describe your style?

  2. A: Energetic and cool! Whatever I play will always have people moving, even if all they hear is my drums.

  3. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  4. A: Hierarchy of recording: it starts by the person -> the instrument -> the room -> the microphones -> the preamps/converter -> audio FX. If you read the line from left to right, left has the highest priority, right can never cope for left. If one fails, it will take its problems to the next one in line.

  5. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  6. A: Mostly I help people with their rock songs, but in my free time I'm enjoying music from Sam & Dave to Lime Cordial to Miyagi to Barış Manço and many, many more. With a worldwide mental map of different genres, cultures and sounds, every track (genre not related) I have will have his own unique and glueness.

  7. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  8. A: My strongest skill is being able to glue instruments together, as a drummer and as a sound engineer.
