Professional guitar player with 16 years of playing, recording and teaching experience. Is comfortable in Rock, blues, country, pop, jazz, Hard Rock, R&B and funk.
Hi, I’m Joe Conner, a multi-instrumentalist and session musician with over 16 years of playing experience and 15 years of live performance experience.
My primary instrument is guitar, but I also play bass, piano, banjo, and ukulele. I’ve performed with dozens of artists and groups over the years, covering a wide range of styles including rock, blues, country, jazz, R&B, fusion, singer-songwriter, worship, and contemporary music.
Whether you need tasteful rhythm guitar, melodic lead work, acoustic textures, bass tracks, or help developing parts for your song, my goal is always the same: serve the music. I believe great session work isn’t about playing the most notes—it’s about finding the right notes.
I’m comfortable creating charts, reading charts, learning material quickly, and adapting to the needs of each project. I pride myself on being professional, reliable, easy to work with, and committed to delivering tracks that help bring your vision to life.
I’d love the opportunity to contribute to your music.

Interview with Joe Conner
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Yes
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise to always keep your vision in mind. I am here to serve YOUR song not make your song about MY ability.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: Do you have charts? Or do I need to make them. Has anyone else worked on this track? Are the stems I'm adding to already somewhat mixed? What is your vision of the song?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Please be clear in your vision. Please have a strong idea of the vibe you are trying to create.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: LsL Badbone, Badcat Jett Black, Walrus Tuner, Wampler Tumnus, and a Ego Compressor
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I mix a good blend of music knowledge and feel to everything I do.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Only use enough gain to bring out the life, just cause it’s heavy does not mean tons of gain.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Rock, blues, jazz, soul, country, pop, songwriter, funk, R&B
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I can work quickly and efficiently.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I can write parts THAT fit the song, not just nail the solo. That being said I can add melodic solos that will fit the vibe of tune. I try my best to bring the song to life and compliment the artists vision.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I listen to the song, make charts if needed, then arrange parts that fit the song. I always always track the rhythm parts first then start the shelf the leads parts.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Session leading, arrangements, part building, tracking parts that fit the song, songwriting, bass, guitar, uke, banjo
