Identity-Preserving Mastering

I deliver powerful, release-ready masters through a custom DSP workflow and identity-preserving methodology built around deliberate, record-specific decisions. I analyze tradeoffs between impact, tone, dynamics, width, loudness, and translation, then shape the master around what the music actually needs, with clear reasoning behind the result.

I’m Jack Dyer, a Phoenix-based mastering engineer with 25 years across musicianship, production, mixing, sound design, and mastering.

My approach starts with the record itself. I evaluate tonal balance, low-end behavior, transients, dynamics, stereo image, loudness, and translation as connected musical decisions, then choose the changes that strengthen the song without flattening what makes it distinct.

I developed a custom DSP workflow and identity-preserving mastering methodology to test those decisions deliberately. When more than one direction is musically valid, I can provide controlled alternatives and explain the tradeoffs clearly.

Each project includes the approved master and a concise decision summary covering what changed, why it changed, and what was preserved. My background also helps me distinguish a technical problem from a choice that is intentionally raw, aggressive, sparse, distorted, or dynamic.

I also take on select mixing and production projects where arrangement, sound design, texture, and final translation need to be considered together.

The goal is a master that hits harder, translates confidently, and still sounds unmistakably like your record.
