Interview with Daniil
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: Honestly, I do not have just one specific project that I am proud of because I genuinely treat every single track like it is my first masterpiece. My role is always the main mix engineer and producer, and I love to experiment with every new song that comes to my studio. I never use the same formula twice because every artist brings a unique energy. For me, the greatest pride is looking at a finished mix, hearing how a fresh experiment worked out perfectly, and feeling that raw excitement every time I hit the play button.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Right now my schedule is completely open for new mixing and mastering projects so I can start working on your music immediately. I work entirely online and receive projects from artists remotely. At the same time, I am focusing on upgrading my studio room acoustics to make sure my monitoring environment is absolutely flawless and every mix comes out with perfect balance. If you are ready to send your stems, I am fresh and ready to build a massive sound for your track today.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Honestly, the only producer and audio engineer on this platform that I can fully back with one hundred percent confidence is myself. I know exactly how much passion, detail, and hard work I put into every single project. Instead of looking for someone else, let us work together on your track, and I promise you will see why I recommend my own services over anyone else.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I prefer a hybrid workflow because it gives me the best of both worlds. When it comes to recording vocals, nothing beats the warmth, character, and musical saturation of high quality analog gear like a solid preamp and a great microphone. However, for mixing and mastering, I choose digital all the way. Modern digital plugins offer unmatched precision, clean processing, and the ability to pull up a project and make instant revisions for a client. In today's music industry, digital workflow is the key to staying fast, creative, and delivering flawless radio ready tracks.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise that I will treat your track with the same passion, energy, and dedication as if it were my own song. I never use lazy presets or cheap shortcuts. My ultimate guarantee is that your music will leave my studio sounding bigger, wider, and completely ready to compete with the biggest hits on Spotify and Apple Music. We will keep adjusting the mix until it matches the exact vision inside your head, and I will not stop until you are absolutely blown away by the final master.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: My absolute favorite part of this job is the magic transformation process. I love taking a raw, rough demo track and watching it evolve into a massive, heavy hitting commercial record. There is an incredible feeling when all the elements suddenly click together, when the low end gets thick, the space opens up, and the vocals start to fly right above the beat. Seeing the pure excitement of an artist when they hear their own song sounding like a masterpiece for the first time is the ultimate reward for me.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: The question clients ask me most often: "Will my track sound as big, wide, and professional as the major artists on streaming platforms, and how many revisions can we do if I want to change something?" My answer: "Yes, absolutely. My main goal is to give your music that commercial, radio ready punch and expensive sounding vocal processing. I do not just apply a basic template to your song because every track needs individual attention. Regarding updates, I offer unlimited minor revisions because I work on your track until you are one hundred percent happy with the final result. We are a team, and we do not stop until the mix sounds perfect."
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Many artists believe that mixing and mastering can magically fix a bad performance or a terrible microphone recording. They think plugins like Auto Tune or digital equalizers can turn a sloppy, poorly timed vocal take into a radio hit. In reality, a mix can only enhance what is already there. If you record with low energy or with bad room acoustics, no engineer can completely save it. Shitty input always equals shitty output, so a great song always starts at the recording stage. But honestly, if you bring your track to me, I would probably find a way to make it sound like a hit anyway.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: 1. Do you want your vocals to sound exactly like your bedroom demo mix or do you actually want a professional commercial sound? 2. Are you completely sure that your vocal tracks are recorded cleanly without any room echo, background noise, or cheap clipping? 3. Can you show me a specific reference track that you love, or are we mixing based on a random vibe inside your head? 4. Who is your target audience and on what audio systems do you expect your track to hit the hardest?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: The best way to get a perfect mix is to prepare your project and communicate openly. When you send your tracks, make sure your vocal stems are clean, organized, and dry without any accidental effects. Always send 1 or 2 reference tracks of famous songs that have the exact sound vibe you want. Most importantly, do not hesitate to share your thoughts, even if you do not know professional audio terms. Just tell me what you feel is missing, and we will make it happen.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: If I were stranded on a desert island, I would skip the heavy studio gear because there are no power outlets anyway. Instead, my top 5 essentials would be my phone, a high capacity power bank, a pair of wired Apple headphones, a supply of fresh water, and some food. I would go back to the old school ways, recording and mixing music directly in BandLab, lying on the beach, listening to tracks, and simply waiting for someone to rescue me.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: My journey started when I was around 13 or 14 years old. I was incredibly passionate about writing lyrics and wanted to record my music so badly that I traveled to a local garage studio miles away just to lay down my first tracks. That spark led me to take professional vocal training for a year and a half, learn to play the keyboard, and spend countless hours in various commercial studios like KA4 Production, where I learned the fundamentals of how professional audio works. Eventually, I decided to take full control of my sound. I downloaded FL Studio, taught myself the ins and outs of music production, and later entered university to study audio engineering. Today, with years of real studio practice and academic knowledge behind me, I know for a fact that creating and shaping sound is what I want to do for the rest of my life.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My style is a balance between raw underground energy and polished commercial punch. I love creating wide, deep spaces and atmospheric textures while keeping the vocals upfront, crisp, and driving the track with a powerful low end.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would love to collaborate with visionary artists like Playboi Carti or Pharaoh. I am drawn to creators who are not afraid to experiment with wild vocal deliveries, unusual spaces, and dark atmospheric moods, because that is where the most exciting sonic breakthroughs happen.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Real music creation cannot be forced or controlled by the logical mind. For a true artist or audio engineer, inspiration comes as a sudden wave of ideas, words, or mental images from somewhere above. When that creative spark arrives, your imagination opens up completely. My main advice is to always be ready to capture that raw, authentic moment instantly and translate it into sound before it fades away.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I specialize in mixing and mastering for Rap, Hip-Hop, Underground Hip-Hop, Pop Rock, and SoundCloud Rap.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My main strengths are modern vocal tuning, complex vocal processing, and precise low end management. I know exactly how to make vocals sound confident and tight inside the instrumental beat. Thanks to my experience with professional software like FL Studio and top tier UAD or FabFilter plugins, I can get a punchy, commercial sound that translates perfectly across all playback systems, from studio monitors to smartphones.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring a fresh commercial energy, clarity, and powerful low end dynamics to every song. Since I am an active music producer, I look at every project from both a technical and a creative perspective. I don't just mix audio, I help artists polish their performance, enhance their emotion, and develop their unique signature sound.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I start by listening to the client's rough mix and reference tracks to understand their creative vision. Then I carefully organize the project in FL Studio, clean up the audio tracks, and apply precise vocal tuning. After that, I focus on complex vocal processing and building a tight, powerful mix with strong low end dynamics. I deliver the first high quality version within 3 to 5 days, and I always include 3 free rounds of revisions to ensure the artist is completely satisfied with the final master.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My studio setup is built for high quality vocal mixing and precise monitoring. I use an Apollo Solo interface, an Audio-Technica AT4040 microphone, and Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro 250 Ohm headphones. My main software is FL Studio, and I use professional plugins from Universal Audio, FabFilter, Soothe2, and Valhalla to get a polished, commercial sound.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I am deeply inspired by the modern urban sound of Playboi Carti and Pharaoh. I study how their engineers manage complex vocal layers, heavy 808s, and creative spatial effects. My goal is to deliver that same fresh, tight, and commercial energy in my mixing.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: My primary work focuses on vocal processing, mixing, and mastering for modern rap and hip hop tracks. I make sure the vocals sound clear, confident, and sit perfectly inside the instrumental beat.
