Interview with Pablo Oro
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: One of the projects I'm most proud of involved editing performances for nationally recognized Argentine artists working alongside top producers and studios. My role included vocal comping, pitch correction, timing editing and complete session preparation. Seeing those recordings become official commercial releases confirmed the importance of precise, musical editing in every production.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I'm currently editing and preparing multitrack sessions for commercial releases, helping artists and producers deliver polished, mix-ready productions while continuing to expand my work in professional vocal and instrument editing.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: I prefer to focus on providing the best possible service to my own clients. SoundBetter is home to many talented professionals, and collaboration is always a positive part of our industry.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both have their strengths, but today's digital tools provide an extraordinary level of precision and flexibility. Used with good musical judgment, they allow you to improve performances while keeping them completely natural.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: Professional communication, meticulous attention to detail, on-time delivery and editing that always respects the musicality of the performance.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Helping great performances reach their full potential. I enjoy solving technical challenges while keeping the artist's personality and musical identity intact.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: The most common question is: "Will my vocals sound overprocessed?" My answer is always the same: No. My editing is designed to be transparent. The listener should notice the performance—not the editing.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Many people think editing is just moving notes or aligning waveforms. In reality, great editing requires musical judgment. The goal isn't perfection—it's making the performance feel natural and emotionally convincing.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I ask about the artistic vision, reference tracks, delivery deadline, session format and whether they prefer transparent editing or a tighter, more modern approach. Clear communication always leads to better results.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Choose someone who understands music, not only software. Technical accuracy is important, but preserving the emotion and feel of a performance is what makes a production sound professional.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: A MacBook, Pro Tools, Melodyne, a reliable audio interface and a great pair of headphones. Creativity doesn't require much more.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been a musician for more than 30 years as a guitarist, vocalist, songwriter and arranger. Over the last decade I've specialized in professional audio editing and music production, collaborating with artists, studios and record labels on commercial releases.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Transparent, musical and detail-oriented. I aim for edits that are technically precise but completely invisible to the listener.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I'd love to work with artists like Bruno Mars, Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish. Although their styles are very different, they all share the same commitment to exceptional performances, world-class productions and meticulous attention to detail. Their music proves that technical precision and genuine emotion can coexist, and that's exactly the philosophy I bring to every editing project. Contributing to productions where every detail matters would be both an exciting challenge and a rewarding experience.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Don't wait until the mix to fix editing issues. A well-prepared session allows the mix engineer to focus on creativity instead of repairing performances, resulting in a better final production.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Although I have extensive experience with Rock and Pop productions, I work comfortably across almost every genre, including Metal, Folk, Jazz, Classical, Latin and EDM. Great editing principles apply to every style.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Natural editing. Whether it's vocal tuning, drum editing or timing correction, my priority is always to preserve the groove, emotion and authenticity of the performance.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Precision without sacrificing musicality. Every edit is made to enhance the performance, not replace it. I believe the best editing is the editing nobody notices.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I begin by understanding the client's vision. Then I organize the session, edit performances with a musical approach, perform detailed quality control and deliver a clean, mix-ready project. Communication throughout the process is essential, and I'm always available for revisions until the client is completely satisfied.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My studio is built around Pro Tools running on Mac, with a professional monitoring environment, Focusrite interface, Audio-Technica headphones and a carefully selected collection of editing and restoration tools including Melodyne. Everything is optimized for precision, speed and reliable delivery.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I'm inspired by professionals who combine technical excellence with musical sensitivity. Producers and engineers who understand that editing should enhance a performance without making it sound artificial. As a musician myself, I admire people who always put the song first.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I specialize in professional audio editing for artists, producers and mix engineers. My work includes vocal comping, natural pitch correction, timing editing, drum editing, instrument alignment and complete session preparation. My goal is always the same: deliver clean, organized, mix-ready sessions while preserving the feel and emotion of every performance.
