Interview with MAX

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: One project I’m especially proud of is my upcoming electronic music album, Celestial Odyssey. It’s a conceptual journey through deep space, exploring themes of discovery, wonder, isolation, and transcendence through Progressive House, Organic House, and Melodic House. The album follows a narrative arc across tracks such as Stellar Awakening, Nebulae Dreams, Warp Speed, Echoes of Andromeda, Gravity Wells, Quantum Drift, Solar Flare, and Celestial Horizon. Each track represents a chapter in an interstellar voyage, blending atmospheric sound design, emotional melodies, and cinematic storytelling. My role is the sole producer, composer, arranger, sound designer, mixing engineer, and creative director for the project. What makes it special to me is that it combines everything I love about music storytelling, emotion, technical production, and world-building, into a single cohesive artistic vision.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: I’m currently producing original Progressive House and Melodic House music under my artist project X P K while also developing new releases, DJ content, and electronic music community initiatives through CUE Global.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: Leo Lauretti

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Digital. Modern digital tools provide incredible flexibility, precision, and efficiency without compromising quality. They allow me to focus more on creativity and less on technical limitations.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: I promise clear communication, honest feedback, and a commitment to delivering the strongest possible version of your music.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: Helping artists bring ideas to life. There is something incredibly rewarding about hearing a rough concept evolve into a finished record that people connect with.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: “Can you make my track sound professional?” Yes. But professionalism starts with the song itself. My job is to elevate your music, strengthen its impact, and ensure it competes sonically with modern releases.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: Many people think production is just arranging sounds on a computer. In reality, it’s about storytelling, emotion, decision-making, and solving creative problems while maintaining technical excellence.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: * What is your vision for the track? * Do you have any reference songs? * What stage is the project currently in? * What are your release goals? * Are there any specific elements you want to keep or avoid?

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Look beyond technical skills. Find someone who understands your artistic vision, communicates clearly, and genuinely cares about the final result. The best collaborations happen when both parties are aligned creatively.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: 1. Laptop with Ableton Live 2. Headphones 3. Solar power Battery Bank 4. Starlink 5. Portable SSD full of samples and projects

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I’ve spent 15 years working across technology, media, and music. My background includes technical architecture, creative production, and live performance. Over time, my passion for electronic music evolved into professional production, mixing, and DJ performance, eventually leading me to build projects like CUE Global alongside my artist career.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: Atmospheric, emotional, melodic, and modern. I love combining organic textures, cinematic soundscapes, and driving grooves to create music that feels both intimate and powerful.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: I’d love to work with Ben Böhmer. His ability to create emotionally powerful music with relatively simple musical elements is something I deeply admire. Collaborating with him would be an incredible opportunity to learn and contribute creatively.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: A great song will always outperform a great mix. Focus on the arrangement, emotional impact, and musical ideas first. Mixing should enhance the song, not rescue it.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: I primarily work on Progressive House, Organic House, Melodic House, Deep House, Electronica, and other emotionally driven electronic music. However, I’m always open to projects that prioritize creativity and strong musical storytelling.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: My strongest skill is transforming ideas into complete records. Many artists know how they want a track to feel but struggle to execute it. I bridge that gap by combining creative production with strong technical decision-making.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: I bring clarity, emotion, and direction. Beyond technical production, I focus on creating a memorable listening experience. Whether it’s a groove, melody, atmosphere, or arrangement, my goal is to enhance the emotional impact of the record while ensuring it translates well across all listening environments.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: Discovery → Reference Analysis → Production → Client Feedback → Refinement → Final Delivery I start by understanding the client’s vision, influences, and goals. After reviewing references, I build the arrangement, sound design, and overall sonic direction. Throughout the process, I keep communication open and provide updates before moving into detailed mixing, mastering, and final delivery.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: My studio is built around a MacBook Pro M1 Pro running Ableton Live and Logic Pro. For recording and monitoring, I use an Apollo Twin X interface paired with Adam Audio T7V monitors and a T10S subwoofer for accurate low-end translation. My headphone reference is the Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro (250 Ohm), and I use an Arturia KeyLab 49 as my primary MIDI controller. For vocals and voice recordings, I rely on the Shure SM7B. My production toolkit includes Serum 2, Diva, Soothe2, FabFilter Pro-Q 4, and iZotope Ozone 12, giving me a modern workflow focused on high-quality production, mixing, mastering, and sound design.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: I’m inspired by producers who balance emotion and technical excellence. Artists like Guy J, Ben Böhmer, Marsh, Yotto, Fred Again.., and Lane 8 have heavily influenced my approach to production. I admire their ability to create immersive musical journeys that connect deeply with listeners while maintaining world-class sound design and mixing.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: I primarily help artists develop professional, release-ready electronic music. This includes full track production, additional production, arrangement, mixing, mastering, and sound design. Most clients come to me with an idea, demo, or unfinished track and leave with a polished record ready for streaming platforms, labels, or live performance.
