Q: Can you share one music production tip?

A: To create massive, wide backing vocals that don't muddy up the center lead, try using the 'Complementary EQ' technique. Instead of just panning your harmony stacks hard left and right, apply a narrow notch cut (around 1-2 dB) on the backing vocals at the exact frequency where the lead vocal has its unique 'bite' and presence (usually between 2 kHz and 5 kHz). Then, boost that exact same frequency on the backing vocals by 1 dB on the sides. This creates a sonic pocket, keeping the lead focused and upfront while making the harmonies wrap beautifully around the listener's head.
