Interview with Discorde
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Composing an original OST for an indie Pokemon fangame and recording voice-over content for several European e-learning platforms.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: Studio-quality delivery, zero AI shortcuts, fast communication, and music that actually serves your project, not just filler tracks. If it doesn't feel right, we revise until it does.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: Bachelor's in Music, then Master's degree in Audiovisual Music. Came from the world of live performance before focusing on composition and recording. Vocal work for Gillette France (TV). Now working as a full-time freelance composer and vocalist for games, film, and content creators worldwide.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Emotionally-driven and cinematic. I lean toward melodies that stick, warm orchestral textures, expressive piano, layers that reward repeated listens. For voice work: natural, intimate, and adaptable.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Video game soundtracks (orchestral, ambient, dark fantasy, synthwave), French voice-over and narration, and original vocal songs in French and English.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Translating a visual or narrative concept into music that amplifies it. Whether it's a 30-second trailer or a 3-minute overworld theme, I find the emotional core first.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Emotional truth. My background is in live performance and audiovisual composition. I know how music makes people feel something, and I chase that in every project. I don't write background filler; I write themes.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: After receiving the brief, I send a rough sketch within 24-48h for feedback. We iterate on mood, tempo and instrumentation until it's right, then I deliver the final files (WAV 24-bit, MP3, full stems) with loop points for game implementation.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Professional home studio with a condenser microphone, dedicated audio interface, acoustic treatment, and full DAW setup. I deliver noise-free recordings and handle mixing and mastering in-house. Available for real-time direction sessions via Discord.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Nobuo Uematsu (Final Fantasy), Lena Raine (Celeste), Austin Wintory (Journey), Yoko Shimomura (Kingdom Hearts), and for vocal work: Bon Iver and Jeff Buckley for emotional delivery.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I most commonly compose original soundtracks for indie video games : orchestral or not themes, ambient loops, boss battle tracks, and record professional French voice-over for games, ads, and e-learning content. I also write and perform custom songs for personal occasions.
