Interview with Holly-Ann Booth
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I like the complete focus the most. It's almost meditative.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What kind of project do you have? Single song or full album? Are you looking for mixing or mastering?
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: What I bring to a song is a well trained ear, constantly evolving sound, and quick and efficient work.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: So many in the industry is a constant inspiration to me. For mixing engineers theres Dave Pensado and Manny Marroquin. Producers are Mike Shinoda, Dr. Luke, Dr Dre, Jay-Z and Max Martin.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: While I like to work an a wide variety of things, I prefer to work on mixing/mastering Pop, R&B, Hip-Hop, and EDM music. I feel that having a large rolodex of genre's gives each mix a creative flare and sounding different is always the end goal, even more than sounding good in some cases.
