Endorse Ante Cinotti2 Reviews
Interview with Ante Cinotti
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both but if I had to choose between those two, it would say analog. Someone would say BOOMER, but I still believe analog sound brings something unique to the whole picture. They don't describe it as warm for no reason.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: There's no a particular project I'm especially proud of. I would say I'm proud of all of them because all of them taught me something new. I learned a lot from every project I worked on.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: The process of creating. I think that's the most magical part.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I have been doing this for 10 years. And before I was doing THIS and by this I mean creating and recording music I was playing music. I started very early with piano lessons first and then switched to guitar when I discovered the wonders of rock'n'roll. I played in bands. I recorded bands. I graduated from MPA (Music Production Academy) with a degree in audio engineering so I can produce my own music. But overall I was always creating music and playing music regardless of education or whatever.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I would say I do not fit one particular style. I like experimenting. One of my albums could be completely alternative rock and the other one could be a mix of electronic music and rock. I like to add new elements to my music, that way I think I keep it fresh and interesting.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I usually work on rock music, every label that fits that category (grunge, alternative rock, punk rock, blues, classic rock etc.) I also have experience in working on music for films.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is creating. I always create music, while playing and while not playing.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I avoid typical ideas that you can hear everywhere, at least I try to. When I come up with the vocal melody or instrument part I tend to experiment a little but again stick to the original idea so it sounds fresh but again within the range of genre sound. So, I would say I bring the parts that stay within the range of genre while sounding original and fresh.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Usually I would listen to the song/project you sent me that needs vocals/guitars/keys couple of times and play with the ideas while listening. Then when I come up with the idea that I think fits the song/project the best I record it and send it to you. I like to pay attention to details and little things while listening that's why it could take couple of days before I deliver the recorded parts.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My studio setup is a mix of analog and digital equipment. I use console for mixing since that suits my workflow. I learned mixing and recording mostly in analog studios but I also, if needed, use digital elements/equipment if it suits the project.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I usually record vocals or instrument parts for my clients (guitar, bass, keyboard). Also, I sometimes if asked, arrange the song or, if needed, come up with the whole song from the musical idea client has.
I was the singer, guitar player, bass player, keyboard/synth player and drummer in this production
