Interview with OH YEAH ™️

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: The Club Shay Shay podcast was in need of an original anthem. They use Nipsey Hussle’s “Grinding All My Life”, so I knew that similar music that brought all original lyrics and delivery would fit perfectly. No other artist released music to match the energy that Shannon Sharpe and his team brings. I was fortunate to create that 100 percent of that music.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: I always have new theme songs and anthems to create, even between bigger projects.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: Three words… Oh Yeah Beats

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: I grew up on analog with vinyl and cassettes, but digital helps me create masterpieces.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: I promise to give you not just a great product/ service, but an incredible experience.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: I love that I can deliver the best products to make all of my clients happy, bringing them right back.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: I am often asked how quick I can produce something. My answer is me referring to when I completed a complete jingle (music + vocals) within 24 hours. This was with a 72 hour window offered.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: The biggest misconception about what I do is that AI has any part of my work. My music is 100 percent me and my heart in everything that I apply myself with, creating seemless music that blends in numerous ways.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: How successful are you ready to become? Are you prepared to become emotional over your future project/ product? Do you seek a moment in time for music, or do you want music that is forever memorable?

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Make sure you feel comfortable with the people you meet/ see, prior to selecting them for hire.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: Hatchet, pot, a net, solar powered notepad, and a drum pad.

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I knew that I would always have a part in music. An early photo of my young self reveals a microphone in my hand. Little did I know then, that I would be an adult, still holding the microphone. It showed me all along that there was an audience waiting for me. I have been a professional musician for over 25 years. Even with my first job in retail, I remember free styling with a coworker in the stock room. In college, I did the same with my dorm room brothers at Bowie State University. I also performed songs at my home church and live in front of hundreds of women in Hollywood, Los Angeles.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: My style is iconic. I describe it as building a Lego set, where every piece excites you.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: I would love to work with Dr. Dre. He was the very first music producer that I paid attention to when he debuted. His passion inspired me and I found that same drive in myself.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Even your worst song that you create will resonate to the fullest capacity with several of your audiences and clients. Stay on tempo, always.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: I usually create hip-hop and smooth up-tempo pop songs.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: My strongest skill is incorporating every detail into a song.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: I bring life and brand identity to every song. You will also feel the love that I put in every track.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: I generally begin with gathering all necessary information by a client from the first three words they describe for the type of song they want, to the grand picture in their mind. I then get to work, creating simple concepts and let the client listen to which one they prefer that I build up for the final product. I gather instruments that they want to hear and suggest what instruments match their mood/ energy desired.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: I continuously operate with a cyber power pc tower, with Windows 12. On the tower, I use Presonus Studio One Professional, along with a usb midi keyboard, a big 24 channel mixer-board, that routes audio signals to 3.5 monitor speakers and headphones. I also use a MacBook Pro with the Apple version of Presonus and Avid Pro Tools.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: Dr. Dre and Pharrell are the top production inspirational professionals.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: A majority of my clients request for me to provide quick jingles, with lyrics and catchy tunes/ melodies. I am also tasked frequently to create musical compositions that match the descriptive words that clients provide to me.
