Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: just finished a song called "long nights". my role was writing, signing, arranging
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: just finished two songs for my band, sleepover

A: yea

A: analog, I like buttons.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: that if I don't feel I can accomplish what they want, I will say so early in the relationship

A: I just love my instruments and gear lol. feels great to make something sick and beautiful.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Can I get more reverb?? lol jk
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That strings are this very proper or technical thing that someone outside the tribal knowledge can't understand. I'm just layering vibes, same as you.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: depends on the client. if they have a lot of experience on the tech/music theory side, the conversation is technical. Even if they don't, either way its about understanding what they're trying to communicate, who their audience is, and how can I support their vision.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Just because you don't read music, doesn't mean your ideas aren't brilliant or any less meaningful. It's my job to interpret YOUR language of music. Be confident about what you want or transparent about not being sure - I'm here to support either.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: violin and a guitar is all I need. Especially since everything else requires power lol
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: yea, I've been doing this for over 20 years (lol getting old). I pivoted from music during the pandemic and now I have money for gear lol.

A: bedroom pop with hifi strings

A: Dave Grohl because he's great.

A: often, less is more

A: indie, rap, punk, electronic

A: as an instrumentalist, its violin/viola. as a writer, its knowing when to be subtle or strong.

A: depends on the song

A: listen to song/project to identify fit and client needs. Determine how impactful my contribution to the song will be, i.e strong or catch melody vs subtle esoteric ambiance vs orchestral arrangement.

A: yeah, I have an Apollo twin, Neumann tlm102, a couple analog drum machine clones, Moog subphatty, guitar/bass.

A: Recording live strings for a song. I often do the writing but happy to arrange anything by ear or sheet music.
