Interview with Bxndo
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Find an engineer that will become your signature sound.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Laptop, Mic, Speaker, Interface, Headphones.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: Artist>Engineer>Producer>Recording Engineer. I started music production around 10th grade.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I would say exciting or forward-thinking.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Lil Uzi Vert because he has a similar sound/vibe as a lot of bedroom rappers I've worked with in the past.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Start from subtractive operations rather than additive first. (i.e attenuation)
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Hiphop/Trap/R&B/Rock.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Not overdoing/overmixing but enhancing what was already there.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: An industry-ready sound.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I work on frequency balancing first. Meaning sorting & leveling out the different instruments into their own respective frequency pockets to make they aren't clashing much before the mixing/mastering process starts. Then mixing: tuning, time alignment, automation etc. Lastly/all throughout mixing, I'm doing reference track A/B'ing to figure out the best volume/balancing for the final song.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Volt 176, Rode NT1 4th Gen, Iconic Mars Foam Isolation Ball, Standard Generic Pop Filter, OneOdio Wired Headphones, & Presonus Active Monitor.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Leslie Brathwaite
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: The most common work I get is vocals & or beatmaking/mastering.
