Interview with Georgeguitars
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: One project I’m especially proud of is a live performance where I had the opportunity to showcase my guitar work in a real musical setting. My role was to support the song through expressive guitar parts, combining rhythm, ambient textures, and melodic lines. What made it special was capturing the energy and emotion of the moment while maintaining a strong sense of musicality and tone. It represents my approach as a guitarist — focusing on feel, dynamics, and serving the music above everything else.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I’m currently working on various guitar recording projects for different artists, exploring a range of tones from clean and ambient textures to more driven and expressive parts. I’m always focused on refining my sound and delivering high-quality tracks that fit each song perfectly.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: I’m still getting to know the SoundBetter community, but I truly believe there are many talented professionals on the platform. If a project requires something beyond my scope, I’d always be happy to help point clients in the right direction and recommend the right specialist for their needs.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I tend to lean toward analog for its feel, response, and the way it interacts with the player. There’s something about the depth, dynamics, and physical connection you get that really translates into a more expressive performance. That said, I also use digital tools when needed for their flexibility and efficiency in a modern recording workflow. For me, it’s always about choosing what best serves the song while keeping the performance as authentic as possible.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: My promise is to deliver high-quality, musical guitar parts that truly serve your song. I’m committed to great communication, attention to detail, and making sure you receive tracks that are ready to use and aligned with your vision.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: What I enjoy the most is bringing a song to life through guitar. Every project is different, and I love finding the right tone, feel, and part that elevates the music and connects emotionally with the listener.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Clients usually ask about turnaround time, revisions, and how I approach their song. My answer is that I typically deliver within a short timeframe depending on the project, and I always include revisions to make sure you’re fully satisfied. I also focus on understanding your vision first, so I can create guitar parts that truly fit your track.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Many people think it’s just about playing guitar, but it’s really about making the right musical decisions for the song. Knowing what to play, what not to play, and how to shape tone and feel is what truly makes a difference.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I usually ask about the vision of the song, references or inspirations, and the role the guitar should play. I also like to know if they’re looking for something subtle, rhythmic, or more expressive, as well as any specific tone preferences. This helps me deliver exactly what the song needs.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Look for someone who listens to your vision and understands the role of the guitar in your song. Communication is key — sharing references, ideas, and expectations will always lead to better results. Choose a musician who focuses on serving the song, not just showing technique.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My electric guitar, a reliable audio interface, my laptop for recording, a good pair of headphones, and a versatile pedal setup including delay and modulation. That would give me everything I need to create and record high-quality guitar parts anywhere.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I’ve been playing guitar for 14 years, developing my style through live performance and studio work. Over time, I’ve focused on becoming a versatile session guitarist, working across different styles and learning how to adapt to each artist’s vision. My experience both on stage and in recording environments has shaped my approach to delivering professional, musical results.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My style is expressive, tasteful, and song-driven. I focus on creating parts that feel natural and musical, combining clean and ambient textures with overdriven tones when needed. Whether it’s subtle layers or expressive leads, my goal is always to enhance the song without overpowering it.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I’d love to work with artists who value musicality and emotion in their sound, such as John Mayer or Andy Timmons. They create music where tone, phrasing, and feel play a central role, which aligns perfectly with my approach as a guitarist.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Less is more. Focus on parts that serve the song rather than filling every space. A well-placed guitar line with the right tone and feel will always have more impact than overplaying.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I work across a wide range of styles depending on the artist’s vision. My experience includes everything from clean and ambient textures to driven guitars, melodic solos, and modern rhythmic parts. I’m comfortable adapting to virtually any genre while maintaining a strong musical identity.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is understanding what the song needs and translating that into the right guitar part. Beyond technique, I focus on phrasing, tone, and dynamics to create parts that feel natural, emotional, and supportive of the overall production.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring musicality, taste, and intention to every track. My goal is always to serve the song — whether that means creating space with ambient textures, adding energy with rhythmic parts, or delivering expressive leads that connect emotionally. I focus on tone, feel, and dynamics to make each part meaningful and impactful.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I start by understanding the client’s vision, references, and the role the guitar should play in the song. Then I record multiple takes and layers if needed, focusing on tone and musicality. I deliver organized, high-quality tracks and make revisions to ensure the final result matches the client’s expectations.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I work from a home studio equipped for high-quality guitar recording, using professional gear and a stereo setup for rich and immersive sound. My setup allows me to deliver clean, ambient, and overdriven tones with great detail and clarity, ready to be used in your production. I focus on tone, performance, and precision to ensure every track sits perfectly in the mix.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I’m inspired by guitarists and musicians who combine technique with musicality, such as Andy Timmons, John Mayer, Michael Landau, and Mateus Asato. I also admire producers and players who focus on tone, emotion, and supporting the song rather than overplaying.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I provide professional electric and acoustic guitar recordings for songs across a wide range of styles. My work includes rhythm guitars, melodic lines, ambient textures, and expressive solos, always focused on enhancing the song and serving the artist’s vision. I deliver high-quality, stereo-ready tracks that fit seamlessly into modern productions.
