DeepNorthRecords on SoundBetter

With over 1 year of consistent studio work, I specialize in Trap & R&B mixing and mastering. I focus on clean, powerful and radio-ready tracks — punchy 808s, smooth polished vocals, tight low-end and that expensive feel. My biggest promise: unlimited revisions until the song sounds exactly how you vision it.

Hey, I'm Serar from DeepNorthRecords — a professional mixing and mastering engineer specialized in Trap and R&B.

With over 1 year of focused studio experience, I help artists (both upcoming and established) take their tracks to the next level: clean low-end, hard-hitting 808s, smooth and emotional vocals, and that modern radio-ready polish.

What sets me apart:
• Unlimited revisions until the track sounds exactly how you want it
• Fast turnaround (usually 3-10 business days)
• Strong focus on Trap, Dark Trap, Melodic Trap, R&B, Drill and modern Hip-Hop

I work in Studio One and use professional processing chains to make your music competitive on Spotify, Apple Music and TikTok.

Working with DeepNorthRecords was a great experience.
He took my song and made it sound exactly how I imagined it in my head, actually even better.
Super professional, very patient with revisions and really cares about the final result.
Top tier engineer for Trap. Already sent him my next project!

Interview with DeepNorthRecords

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: One project I’m especially proud of is “Mai Mult” with artist HVLUS and one of his producers. We built the entire song from absolute zero in one long studio session — starting with just an idea and a vibe. It was full of emotions, creative obstacles, moments of high energy and some frustrating ones too, but that’s exactly what made it special. In the end we created something really powerful. My role was mixing and mastering the whole track. I worked closely with them through many revisions until every detail felt right and the emotion was fully preserved. It’s one of those projects that reminds me why I love this job.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: Right now I’m mixing several Trap and R&B projects and creating content to help other artists understand the mixing process better.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: Not yet, but I’m always open to collaborate with other engineers on SoundBetter.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: 100% digital. Modern plugins give me the precision, recall and speed I need to deliver fast, consistent and high-quality results. Analog i used only pre-amp for texture.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: I promise unlimited revisions (within reason) until the track sounds exactly how you want it, plus mandatory mixing/mastering credit on all platforms.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: I love seeing an artist’s reaction when they hear their song sounding exactly (or even better) than they imagined it. What I like most about my job is that every single track is a completely unique process. There is no universal formula or template — each song has to be worked from scratch with fresh ears and creativity. That’s the real beauty of mixing and mastering for me.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: Most ask “How fast can you deliver?” I usually deliver in 3-10 business days (Sundays excluded) depending on the current schedule.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: Many people think mixing is just “making it louder”. In reality it’s about balance, emotion, clarity and making every element work together perfectly.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: I always ask: What genre/vibe are you going for? Do you have reference tracks? On what equipment was the track recorded? What is your deadline?

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Send clean stems + 1-2 reference tracks that show exactly the sound you want. The clearer your vision, the better and faster the final result will be.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: 1. Studio One, 2. FabFilter Pro-Q 3, 3. FabFilter Pro-L 2, 4. My main studio monitors, 5. A good pair of headphones (for checking translation).

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I’ve been doing professional mixing and mastering for over 1 year now. I started as a passionate producer and quickly realized I enjoy the mixing side even more, so I focused 100% on it.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: Clean, punchy and modern. I focus on strong low-end, emotional vocals and a wide, professional stereo image while keeping the track energetic and streaming-ready.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: I would love to work with artists like Yeat, Gunna or The Weeknd. Their sound is exactly the style I love to push even further with modern mixing techniques.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Always check your in mono at least once — especially the low-end and vocals. If it still sounds good in mono, it will translate perfectly on every device.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: I specialize in Trap (Dark Trap, Melodic Trap, Plugg), R&B, Drill and modern Hip-Hop.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: My strongest skill is the combination of technical skill and fast communication + unlimited revisions (within reason) until the song sounds exactly how the artist visioned it.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: I bring clarity, power and that “expensive” modern sound while keeping the artist’s original emotion and vibe intact. My goal is always to make the track sound professional and competitive on playlists.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: I start with a detailed reference analysis, then balance the mix, clean and process vocals, tighten the low-end, add glue and depth, and finally master for streaming platforms. I send a first version quickly and offer unlimited revisions until the artist is 100% happy.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: I work in Studio One 7 with a treated home studio. Main tools: FabFilter bundle, Waves plugins, iZotope Ozone 11, Soundtoys 5 and Valhalla reverbs. I focus on a clean and accurate monitoring chain so I can deliver consistent results.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: I’m inspired by producers like Metro Boomin, Southside, Wheezy and mix engineers like Mike Dean, mixedbyAli and Joe Fitz. I also follow a lot of modern Trap/R&B mixing tutorials to stay up to date.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: The most common work I do is full mix + master for Trap and R&B tracks. I take the artist’s stems and deliver a clean, powerful, radio-ready song with punchy 808s, polished vocals and tight low-end.
