Interview with GV Warren
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: Working with the artist Cristii. She is the best Cello player i have played with and the music we make together always has a place in my heart.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I am working on a finger style Album with both steel and nylon guitars
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Not at the moment.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Analogue has more colour and more humanity than 0s and 1s
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: A fast turnaround and great communication.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Working on new projects and exploring new avenues of creativity.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: How long have you been playing? Ans: Ten Year+ Why do you prefer acoustic than electric? Ans: I find the acoustic more intimate and more expresive than the electric. Played well you can be a whole band with one instrument.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Guitar is easy. Other than open chords it the learning curve is bigger than people think.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: Who are your inspirations? How long have you been playing? Why music?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Make sure their gear is as good as their playing. You do not want to spend hours adjusting and mixing one track.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My Faith Harvest Moon and a Capo. All I need aha !
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: Music was and is always a huge part of my life. I have been studying guitar now for 10 years and recieved a degree in the instrument. I have composed student shorts films, produced trap hip-hop and more electronic dance but I always come back to home. The acoustic guitar.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Intimate, organic and ethereal.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would like to work with Estas Tonne, I think he is the most virtuosic guitarist on the planet.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: The recording is the most important aspect of the mixing process.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Solo finger style Tracks, folk, country, blues and nylon related genres too!
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Fingerstyle Guitar
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I always bring a guitar track that sounds organic, high quality and pre mixed (and dry of course) so artists and producers do not need to slow down their workflow
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I listen to all references provided and study everything from melody, chords and rhythm. My mantra is, less is always more. I want to fit my guitar into the song, not make it the main center piece.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Apollo Twin X Duo Core Faith Harvest Moon Admira A8 Se8 Stereo Pair
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Lyndsey Buckingham, Estas Tonne, Tommy Emmanuel
