Interview with Ernesto

  1. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  2. A: I’m bring authentic PanAfrican skill on percussion. I’ve grown up playing and recording for many great musical artists. I also work well and fast.

  3. Q: What's your typical work process?

  4. A: It depends on what the client requires. Recently I recorded percussion tracks for an R&B artist. She wanted bongos. I recorded three bongo tracks for her to choose from and I added an extra percussion ambient track. I recorded the tracks at home. The stems for the music was sent to me by WeTransfer. I sent them back in the same way. The client was pleased and used the work.

  5. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  6. A: I have the latest Logic Pro software, Sibelius software, a great new interface and great microphones (dynamic, condenser and ribbon mics). I have a lot of percussion instruments a classical guitar, acoustic bass guitar, electric guitar, electric bass guitar, cello, violin, an M1 keyboard and an upright piano.

  7. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  8. A: I’ve worked with many great musicians and music producers. My favorite musical artists range in styles and popularity. Some are very famous while others are obscure and not well known. Prince is someone I’ve always admired and respected. He had a great work ethic, talent and knowledge. Silvio Rodriguez is an amazing example of musical dedication.

  9. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  10. A: I perform and record as a percussionist. I play a variety of PanAfrican percussive instruments in many west African, AfroCaribbean, AfroLatin and Central African music styles that can be incorporated in many contemporary music styles. I use Logic Pro to record. I also have a lot of professional studio recording experience
