Working with Sonny was an incredible experience. He produced my first single and it quickly reached over 4 million streams on Spotify, even becoming the official anthem for a major dance event (Don't Let Daddy Know), which gave my career a huge boost.

From songwriting to production, mixing and mastering, Sonny delivers a truly professional, high-level sound. I’m super happy with the result and would highly recommend him to anyone looking to take their music to the next level.

Interview with Sonny

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: One project I’m especially proud of is working on “Gravity” by Martin Garrix. Martin is not only an incredible artist but also a great person to work with. It’s a song that really connects with people emotionally, and it’s still used as the intro in many of his shows, which is amazing to see. Another project I’m very proud of is the music created for the Heineken x UEFA Champions League commercial campaign. It was a great experience to work on a project like that and then see and hear the music broadcast on TV worldwide. On these projects I was responsible for songwriting, production, mixing and mastering.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: At the moment I’m working on several upcoming releases for major artists. While I can’t reveal the names yet, some of them are among the most streamed artists in the world. I’m also finishing new tracks for artists I’ve collaborated with before. A few of these records have already been premiered at major festivals like Ultra Music Festival and Tomorrowland. The music will be released soon, so I’m excited for everyone to hear it.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: Yes, I would definitely recommend Simon Jacobsson. He’s a very talented producer and songwriter who consistently delivers modern, high-quality productions.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: I like working with a hybrid approach that combines both analog and digital tools. Digital gives incredible flexibility, speed and precision during production and editing, while analog gear can add character, depth and musical warmth to a record. In the end it’s not about choosing one over the other, but about using the right tools at the right moment to serve the song and achieve the best possible result.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: My promise to my clients is that I will always give my full attention and dedication to every project. I focus on delivering the highest possible quality while staying true to the artist’s vision for the song. I also aim to bring the same level of detail, care and professionalism to every record, making sure the final result is polished, competitive and ready for release.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: What I like most about my job is turning an idea into a finished record. It’s always exciting to start with a simple melody, concept or demo and gradually shape it into something powerful and complete. I also really enjoy the creative collaboration with artists. Every project is different, and helping someone bring their vision to life while pushing the song to its highest potential is one of the most rewarding parts of the process.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: One of the most common questions clients ask is whether I can help turn their idea or demo into a professional, release-ready record. The answer is yes. Whether someone has a rough idea, a vocal demo or an instrumental sketch, my goal is to develop it into a fully finished production. Clients also often ask how involved they can be in the process. I always encourage collaboration and feedback along the way, so we can shape the record together and make sure the final result truly reflects the artist’s vision.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: One of the biggest misconceptions is that having the best gear automatically leads to better music. In reality, the idea behind the song is far more important. You can have all the expensive equipment in the world, but if the idea, melody or concept isn’t strong, the record will still fall short. On the other hand, a great idea with decent gear can already make an amazing track. The equipment helps, but the creativity and the strength of the song always come first.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: When starting a project I usually ask a few key questions to understand the vision for the song. For example, what direction or style the artist is aiming for, if they have reference tracks they like, and what stage the project is currently in. I also ask about the goal of the release, whether it’s intended for streaming, clubs, radio or something else. This helps me shape the production, arrangement and final mix so the record fits both the artist’s vision and where the song will be heard.

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: My advice would be to choose someone who not only has the technical skills, but also real industry experience and a proven track record. A producer should be able to understand your vision and elevate it to a level that can truly compete with professional releases. It’s important to look at the quality of previous work, the level of detail in the production, and whether the producer can guide a song from the initial idea all the way to a polished, release-ready record. Working with someone experienced can make a huge difference in the final result and the overall impact of your music.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: If I had to choose just five pieces of gear, I’d keep it simple but versatile. A MacBook Pro with my DAW, a good pair of accurate studio speakers that sound musical but still honest enough for making reliable mix decisions, a compact MIDI keyboard, a solid audio interface from Universal Audio, and a quality vocal microphone like the Neumann TLM 103. With that setup I could still write, produce, record vocals, mix and develop ideas anywhere. At the end of the day, great records always start with creativity and strong musical ideas.

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I’ve been working in music production for over 13 years. I started out writing songs and producing music from a young age, constantly learning and refining my craft. Over time this developed into working with artists, DJs and creators on a wide range of projects including songwriting, production, mixing and mastering. Through these collaborations I’ve been fortunate to contribute to records that have reached billions of streams and releases across major labels.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: My style combines emotional songwriting with modern, powerful production. I focus on strong melodies, atmosphere and energy while keeping the sound polished and competitive with today’s releases. At the same time I’m very versatile and enjoy working across different styles, always adapting the production to what best fits the song and the artist’s vision.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: I would love to work with Coldplay. Their music combines strong songwriting, atmosphere and emotion in a way that connects with millions of listeners around the world. Their ability to create timeless songs while constantly evolving their sound is something I find very inspiring, and collaborating on a record that blends that songwriting depth with modern production would be an amazing experience.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: One of the most important production tips is to pay close attention to the small details in a track. Subtle adjustments to elements like the kick, groove, arrangement or FX can completely change how a song feels and how well it translates on different sound systems. It’s often not one big change that makes a record great, but many small refinements that work together to elevate the overall production. Taking the time to focus on those details can make a huge difference in the final result.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: I primarily work on Dance, EDM and Pop records, often with influences from Progressive House and Melodic House. At the same time I’m very versatile and regularly work across different styles including Afro House, Latin, Urban and Hip-Hop. Because of my background in songwriting, production, mixing and mastering, I’m able to adapt to different genres while maintaining a modern, high-quality sound that works well on streaming platforms, radio and club systems.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: My strongest skill is my attention to detail and my drive for perfection in every part of a record. Small details can make a huge difference in how a song feels and translates, whether it’s a subtle adjustment to a kick, a small change in the mix, or the right FX in a specific moment. I spend a lot of time refining these elements to make sure every part of the track works together and elevates the overall sound. Those small improvements often make the difference between a good record and a truly great one. I’m also very adaptive and versatile, which allows me to work across different genres and styles while always focusing on what best serves the song and the artist’s vision.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: I bring a combination of strong songwriting, modern production and high-end mixing to help turn an idea into a record that feels both emotional and powerful. My goal is always to elevate the song while staying true to the artist’s vision. With experience across songwriting, production, mixing and mastering, I focus on creating records that translate well on streaming platforms, radio and large sound systems, while still keeping the musical identity and atmosphere that make a song memorable.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: My process usually starts with understanding the artist’s vision, references and the direction they want the song to go. From there I begin developing the production, arrangement and overall sound to match that vision. Once the production and songwriting are in place, I refine the details through editing, mixing and eventually mastering to make sure the track translates well across streaming platforms, radio and club systems. Throughout the process I keep close communication with the artist to make sure the final record feels authentic and fully aligned with their artistic identity.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: I work in high-end professional studio environments using a hybrid analog and digital setup. My workflow combines industry-standard tools from Universal Audio with high-end analog gear including the SSL Bus+ and the Manley Massive Passive EQ, monitored through PMC studio speakers. This setup allows me to deliver mixes and masters with the clarity, depth and punch expected from modern major-label productions.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: Artists like Swedish House Mafia, David Guetta and Avicii have inspired me the most when it comes to production and creating records that work both emotionally and on a big festival scale. From a songwriting perspective, artists and bands like Oasis, U2, Ed Sheeran and Coldplay represent the highest level of atmosphere, songwriting and timelessness. That is something I always strive for in the music I create.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: Most of the work I do for clients involves helping artists turn an idea or demo into a fully finished, release-ready record. This can include songwriting, topline writing, full track production, mixing and mastering. Many artists come to me with a rough demo, vocal idea or instrumental, and my role is to develop the track into a professional production that can compete with major label releases, especially within Dance, EDM and Pop.
