Music Mix & Mastering Engineer

Maksym Teper on SoundBetter

WHAT I DO: I create clean, powerful and emotionally engaging masters that enhance the true character of your music while preserving balance and dynamics. Each track is treated individually — no presets, no generic chains. I focus on frequency structure, depth and spatial clarity to deliver impact without sacrificing musicality.

MY APPROACH
I am a music producer and mix & mastering engineer focused on transparent processing, depth enhancement and precise frequency control.

I work with professional mastering tools designed to enhance the frequency spectrum without compromising balance or impact.

In addition, I use my own custom-built audio plugins and experimental processing solutions focused on increasing depth, refining frequency structure and improving spatial definition.

MUSICAL BACKGROUND
Alongside engineering, I am also a musician — I play violin, synths and produce beats, which allows me to combine technical precision with musical sensitivity.

WORKING TOGETHER
I can deliver fast and efficient results or collaborate on larger creative projects involving production layers, effects and sound development.
Clean processing. Controlled impact. No unnecessary coloration.

Interview with Maksym Teper

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: One project I’m particularly proud of involved refining the depth and clarity of an electronic track that had great ideas but needed balance and space. My role was mixing and mastering, focusing on frequency structure and spatial detail to bring out the full potential of the song.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: At the moment I’m working on mixing and mastering projects for independent artists and continuing to refine my workflow and custom audio processing tools. In addition, I am working on a new music album.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: I prefer to focus on the work I can personally deliver, but SoundBetter is full of talented professionals across many areas of music production.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Digital tools offer precision, flexibility and consistency, which are essential in modern mixing and mastering. What matters most is not the format but how the tools are used.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: I treat every project individually and only take on work I can fully commit to. My goal is always to enhance the artist’s vision while maintaining clarity, balance and musical character.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: I enjoy shaping the final sound of a track and helping artists hear their music at its full potential. It’s always satisfying to transform a good mix into something that feels polished and complete.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: One common question is how to prepare a track for mixing or mastering. My advice is always to export clean stems starting from the same point, leave enough headroom and avoid heavy limiting on the master channel.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: Many people think mastering is only about making a track louder. In reality it’s about balance, clarity and making sure the music translates well across different listening systems.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: I only take on projects I can fully commit to. Every track is treated individually with careful attention to detail, and my goal is always to deliver a result that enhances the artist’s original vision.

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Choose someone who listens carefully to the character of your music and doesn’t rely on generic presets. Good communication and a clear understanding of the artistic vision are key to achieving the best result.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: A laptop with my DAW, a good pair of headphones, an audio interface, a small MIDI keyboard and one versatile synthesizer. With those tools I could still create and shape music anywhere.

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: My path started with music production and experimentation with sound design and electronic instruments. Over time I focused more on mixing and mastering, developing my ear for depth, frequency balance and spatial clarity. Since then I’ve continued refining my workflow and tools to improve the final sound of a track.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: Clean, precise and depth-focused. I aim for a modern sound that is powerful but still transparent and balanced.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: I would enjoy working with artists who care about sonic depth and atmosphere. Projects where sound design, space and emotional impact are important are always the most inspiring for me.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Always pay attention to frequency balance before adding more processing. Many problems in a mix come from overcrowded frequency ranges rather than a lack of effects.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: I mostly work with electronic music, EDM, pop, indie pop, hip-hop and R&B, but I’m open to any genre where a clean, balanced and modern sound is important.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: My strongest skill is hearing subtle frequency and spatial details that affect the overall clarity and depth of a mix. This allows me to refine the sonic structure of a track without losing its character.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: I focus on clarity, depth and controlled impact. My approach combines technical precision with musical sensitivity, helping the track sound powerful while preserving its natural balance and emotion.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: I start by carefully analyzing the track’s frequency balance, dynamics and spatial structure. From there I build a custom processing chain tailored to the specific song. My goal is always to enhance the existing character of the track rather than reshape it unnecessarily.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: I work in a dedicated studio environment with professional monitoring and carefully selected audio tools. My setup is designed for precise listening and transparent processing, allowing me to focus on depth, frequency balance and spatial clarity during mixing and mastering.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: I’m inspired by artists and producers who focus on sound depth and sonic detail. People like Jean-Michel Jarre, Jon Hopkins and other electronic artists who treat sound as a space and not only as rhythm or melody.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: Most of my work focuses on mixing and mastering electronic, pop and hip-hop music. I help artists refine the sonic balance of their tracks, enhance depth and clarity, and prepare their music for streaming platforms and professional release.
