Professional pop/EDM vocalist and topliner with over 500M streams worldwide and Eurovision experience. I deliver emotional, radio-ready vocals with a distinctive tone, strong high register, and clean, professional stems ready for release.
Hi — I’m Gaute, a professional pop/EDM vocalist, topliner, and producer with over 20 years of experience in the music industry. My work as a songwriter has accumulated well over 500 million streams worldwide, and I’ve had the honor of representing Norway in Eurovision as part of Subwoolfer.
I specialize in delivering emotional, radio-ready lead vocals with a distinctive tone, strong high register, and clean, flexible falsetto. Whether you need an intimate pop vocal, powerful EDM performance, tight harmonies, or topline melodies, my focus is always to serve the song and elevate the final production.
You can expect high-quality recordings through a professional signal chain (Neumann → Neve → Apollo), well-organized stems, and clear, friendly communication throughout the process. I’m happy to adapt to your vision and provide revisions to make sure the track lands exactly where you want it.
If you’re looking for a vocal that feels human, modern, and commercially competitive — I’d love to work with you.

Interview with Gaute Ormåsen
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: One project I’m especially proud of is “In Your Eyes” with Robin Schulz, which originally started as an idea in my head. The track went on to reach Top 5 radio across Europe in 2021 and topped the US Dance charts. I’m also proud to have represented Norway in Eurovision as part of Subwoolfer, where I was the lead vocalist and one of the songwriters. Across my career, I’ve accumulated well over 500 million streams as a songwriter — something I’m very grateful for and proud of.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I usually start by asking for a reference track, as that quickly tells me a lot about the desired style and direction. I also ask the client to describe the mood and emotional feel they’re going for — whether they want something intimate and close, or bigger and more powerful. Clear communication early on helps me deliver a vocal and production that truly fits the song.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Look for someone who truly understands the emotion and intention behind your song — not just the technical side. Clear communication, strong references, and a vocal style that genuinely fits your track are key. And hey — why not try a guy from Norway? Sometimes the right musical connection comes from unexpected places.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: I’d definitely bring an acoustic guitar, a pick, and a capo — that’s enough to keep the songwriting going anywhere. If the island happens to have electricity, I’d add my MacBook, a MIDI keyboard, and a microphone so I could keep producing and recording wherever I am.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I’ve been working professionally in music for over 20 years. My journey started early with a strong passion for songwriting and performing, and the dream has always been to hear my songs on the radio and connect with listeners. Over the years I’ve worked as an artist, vocalist, and songwriter on a wide range of commercial releases, and I continue to focus on creating music that resonates and stands the test of time.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My style is adaptable and song-focused, depending on what best serves the track. I most often work within modern pop and EDM, but I’ve worked across a wide range of genres throughout my career. No matter the style, my focus is always on strong melodies, emotional delivery, and a polished, commercial sound.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I’ve already had the chance to work with some of the biggest names in the industry. At this stage, I’m most excited about collaborating with artists who genuinely love music and want to create something special together. For me, great energy, passion, and a shared vision matter more than the size of the name.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Use your ears first — there is rarely one fixed rule that fits every song. Technical guidelines are helpful, but the best results come from listening critically and making decisions based on what actually serves the music. If it sounds right and supports the emotion of the track, you’re usually on the right path.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I primarily work within pop and EDM, with a strong focus on modern, radio-ready productions. I’m comfortable across a range of contemporary styles, from emotional pop ballads to upbeat commercial dance tracks.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is crafting expressive lead vocals and memorable melodies that elevate the emotional impact of a song. I have a strong sense for phrasing, dynamics, and melodic hooks, allowing me to deliver performances that feel both natural and commercially competitive.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring a distinctive and expressive vocal character that helps a track stand out. My strength lies in combining clarity and control in the higher register with a flexible, emotional falsetto when the song calls for it. I focus on delivering performances that can move between intimacy and power, always aiming to serve the song and create a vocal that feels both modern and genuinely human.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: My process always starts with understanding the artist’s vision and the emotional direction of the song. From there, I focus on finding the strongest overall performance by exploring different vocal expressions, tones, and phrasing options. I typically deliver clean, well-organized stems and am happy to provide revisions to make sure the final result fits perfectly in the production. My goal is always to serve the song and achieve the best possible musical outcome.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I work primarily in Logic Pro with a professional recording chain and a wide selection of high-end third-party plugins. Most vocals are recorded through a Neumann microphone into a Neve preamp and Universal Audio Apollo interface, ensuring clean, detailed, and radio-ready recordings. My setup allows me to deliver everything from high-quality demo vocals to fully polished, release-ready productions.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: My inspiration comes from a wide range of commercial music across pop, EDM, and contemporary radio. I’m especially drawn to artists and producers who combine strong emotional delivery with modern, polished production. Rather than following one specific style, I focus on what best serves the song and the artist’s vision, which allows me to adapt quickly across different genres and projects.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: My most common work is delivering professional lead vocals for pop, EDM, and contemporary productions. Clients often hire me for expressive, radio-ready lead performances, as well as tight and musical background harmonies. I also frequently contribute topline melodies and vocal ideas when needed. In addition, I produce tracks ranging from high-quality demos to fully polished, release-ready productions depending on the client’s goals.
