Alternative-pop session singer delivering raw, intimate vocals with emotional weight and modern edge.
Hi!! I’m Iris Ixxy, a session singer and artist based between Bali and London. My work is rooted in emotion, intuition, and honest expression. I approach every song with intention and presence, not autopilot vocals. My debut album Waking Up reflects the kind of performances I bring to session work: raw, vulnerable, and atmospheric. I’m drawn to music that tells the truth, even when it’s uncomfortable, and I aim to translate that feeling directly into my voice. I work best with artists and producers who value authenticity and emotional depth. Whether it’s a soft, intimate lead or layered harmonies that add texture and soul, I focus on connecting to the song first and letting the performance come from there. If you’re looking for a voice that feels human, intentional, and emotionally alive, I’d love to collaborate.
I’m collaborative, communicative, and deeply respectful of the creative process.

I’ve worked with Iris in many different settings, and she stands out every time. She’s original, instinctively musical, and brings real depth to both her songwriting and vocals.
As a writer, she has strong ideas but stays flexible, adapting effortlessly to whatever the project needs. As a vocalist, she delivers a rare blend of contemporary edge and timeless character.

Interview with Iris Ixxy
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: My process changes depending on the song, every track has its own energy. I like to really connect with the artist and understand the story or emotion behind it first. Once I feel that, I usually start building melodies that feel honest and natural, then write lyrics that match the mood. I’ll send ideas as we go and keep it collaborative, because I think the best songs come from real connection. Once everything feels right, I record and deliver clean, fully edited vocals and stems ready for mixing.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Right now I’m travelling, so I’m working with a portable setup — Focusrite Scarlett interface and Logic Pro, which lets me record and produce remotely with great quality. When I’m home, I have access to a professional studio with Logic Pro X, a Neumann U87, and a UAD Apollo, so I can deliver fully polished, industry-level recordings.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: One project I'm especially proud of is an album I created with Kipper Eldridge. We worked closely together on the songwriting and recording, and it taught me so much about collaboration and trusting my instincts as an artist. I was involved in writing, singing, and shaping the creative direction of the songs, and I'm proud that the final result feels honest and true to who we are.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: At the moment I'm working on my own artist projects while also collaborating with other writers and producers. I'm writing new songs, recording vocals, and continuing to explore the kind of intimate, emotional sound that I love creating.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: People often think it's just about having a nice voice, but there's so much more to it. A great vocal is about telling the story, understanding the emotion, and knowing when to hold back just as much as when to sing.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I usually ask what inspired the song, what emotion they want it to leave people with, and whether they have any reference tracks that capture the feeling they're after. I also like to know how involved they'd like to be throughout the process so we can work in a way that suits them best.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Listen to their previous work and ask yourself how it makes you feel. Finding someone whose style genuinely connects with you is just as important as finding someone who's technically skilled. Good communication also makes a huge difference, it should feel like a collaboration, not just a transaction!
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I'd describe my style as intimate, emotional, and understated. I love music that gives people space to feel something rather than trying to impress them. I'm drawn to soft vocals, honest lyrics, rich harmonies, and simple production that lets the emotion speak for itself.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Don't over-polish too early. Some of the best vocal takes or melodies come from the first few tries because they're the most honest. I like to capture the emotion first, then worry about making everything technically perfect afterwards.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: My promise is total commitment to your project and it's outcome. I’ll show up fully, communicate clearly, and put real care into the melody, lyrics, and vocal delivery. I won’t send something I don’t believe in. If I’m working on your track, I’m committed to making it feel authentic and emotionally strong, not rushed or generic.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Yes, I work closely with Kipper Eldridge, who is an incredible producer and mixer. We collaborate regularly and have a strong creative understanding, which makes the process really natural and cohesive. If a client is looking for high quality production or mixing, I would absolutely recommend him.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I’d love to work with Lizzy McAlpine because her music feels intimate and emotionally honest. The melodies are subtle but powerful, and the lyrics feel very real and personal. I connect with that kind of storytelling and vulnerability, and I think I’d really thrive in that space creatively.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I usually work on alternative pop with a soft, intimate feel. I’m drawn to stripped-back production, honest lyrics, and melodies that feel a little delicate but still hit emotionally. There’s often a touch of jazz influence in the way I phrase or shape melodies, but it stays modern and minimal. I love music that feels vulnerable, atmospheric, and slightly moody rather than overly polished or loud.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is communication. I really value understanding what someone is trying to say and making sure they feel heard throughout the process. I ask questions, stay open, and keep things honest so there is no confusion. I think good music comes from real connection, and clear communication is what allows that to happen
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring authenticity and emotion. I like making things feel real, not overthought or forced. When I sing or write, I connect to the feeling first and let that guide the melody and lyrics. I think what I bring most is honesty. I want people to feel something when they hear it, even if it’s subtle.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I’m really inspired by artists like Phoebe Bridgers, Searows, Lizzy McAlpine and Billie Eilish for their honesty and emotional depth. I also admire Jacob Collier for his musicality and how creatively he approaches harmony and arrangement. For me, it’s always about the soul of the song. The feeling has to come first!!
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I usually sing lead vocals on songs I’ve co-written or on tracks from writers who don’t feel confident performing their own material. I like working closely with the artist or producer so the vocal really feels right for the song. I also record harmonies and backing vocals to add depth and bring the track to life.
