Interview with Piero Pizzul
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I’m especially proud of producing and mixing a variety of tracks in Jackin & Funky House, as well as electronic music across several other styles. You can listen to several of my works on SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/pieropizzul . Some tracks explore niche styles, showcasing my versatility and attention to detail.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Currently producing and mixing Jackin & Funky House tracks for DJs and labels, focusing on tight grooves and club-ready mixes.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: focus on my own workflow, but I respect professionals across the platform. I can recommend collaborators if needed for specific instruments or genres.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital — it gives precision, flexibility, and recall for complex projects. I can still emulate analog warmth using plugins when needed.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise professional results, clear communication, and a workflow that delivers tracks ready for release. My goal is to turn ideas into polished, danceable music with character.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Turning ideas into danceable, energetic tracks and helping artists and DJs reach their full potential. Seeing a track come alive on the dance floor is the best reward.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Q: “Can you make my track sound better?” A: Yes — I focus on making your track sound club-ready while keeping its character, groove, and energy intact.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That mixing and mastering is just about making things louder. In reality, it’s about balance, clarity, energy, and translating the artist’s vision into a polished, professional track.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I ask about the track’s vision, target audience, preferred style, reference tracks, and any specific elements they want highlighted in the mix or master.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Look for someone who communicates clearly, shows examples of their work, and has a workflow that matches your project’s needs. Professionalism and transparency are key.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Cubase DAW A good pair of studio monitors Audio interface
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I grew up immersed in music and have over 20 years of experience producing, mixing, and arranging electronic and house tracks. I’ve worked independently, learning every aspect of production from composition to mastering.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Funky Jackin House with tight grooves, clean mixes, and club-ready energy. I aim for tracks that make people move while keeping each element clear and powerful.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I’d love to work with artists who push house music forward, creating tracks that are both funky and club-ready. Collaborating with innovative DJs and producers inspires me to improve every mix.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Always focus on the groove first. A track can have great sounds, but if the rhythm isn’t tight, it won’t hit the dance floor. Balance clarity and energy in each element.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: House, Jackin House, Funky House, and electronic music in general. My focus is on tracks that need energy and groove for DJ and club use.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is making house tracks sound tight, punchy, and club-ready, while keeping the mix clear and dynamic.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring groove, clarity, and character. Each track I work on is designed to hit the dance floor while preserving its unique personality and energy.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I start by analyzing the track’s structure and groove, then mix individual elements for clarity and punch. After that, I master the track to ensure it’s club-ready, maintaining energy and balance. I keep clear communication with clients throughout.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I work in a digital studio based on Cubase 9.5 Pro, with virtual instruments, along with Waves and Acon Digital plugins for mixing and mastering. My setup is optimized for clean workflow and precise sound.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I specialize in mixing, mastering, and arrangement for house/dance tracks, with a focus on Jackin and Funky House. I help artists, DJs, and labels get club-ready tracks with tight grooves and clear sound.
