Interview with Nikklar Delight
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: Every project I work on , I am proud of it because I become part of the project
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: An EP
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Not Yet
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both. Some effects sound best on analog and some digital
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: Best quality.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Its the only time my soul , body and mind are in perfect harmony
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: With the quality I produce , why do I charge less - I tell them its only because a few years back I was also an upcoming artist and I understand the stress so I try to help out
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Its an easy job and anyone can do it
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: Which market they are targeting Which artist inspires them What they are trying to achieve through the particular project
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: As a professional producer , I can make your dull song shiny and full of life but I can not make bad vocals good. Recording time is the most important time in music production and you should do as many takes as possible to ensure that your vocals are on point before any dynamics are added to your track. Try to express your feelings and emotions to the listener and mastering will make your feeling reach the world clearly and delightfully
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My Laptop , My headphones and a packet of salty nuts
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: Honestly I learnt music production so that my songs can sound world class because there was no other producer who could deliver what I wanted. 8 years later I dont sing anymore and I now stand as a bridge to success for aspiring artists
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I always want to engage with the artist's vibe and try as much to help him or her express how she was feeling when she was writing the song. We should be on the same frequency and that way the song will have a mutual energy
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Chris Brown .... I can imaging what I can do with those melodious vocals of his . lol...
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Reverb is there to fill in gaps in the vocals and not to cover up a messy vocal. With the right technic , reverb should help to bring the vocal presence . If your mix is turning muddy when you apply reverb , remove it.... I ts not a must to put reverb anyway.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Afropop , Afrobeats , Dancehall , Indie , RnB , Hip Hop and a few more
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Vocal Tuning , Mastering and beat making
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring life and sparkle to be vocals making them sound not only professional but world class and harmonious to the ear. The vocals are the most important element of any song and I focus more on them and try to make them outstanding but yet perfectly blending with the instruments
