Interview with Joacheim

  1. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  2. A: I’m currently focused on mixing, mastering, vocal editing, and developing new production techniques across rock, progressive rock, metal, hip-hop, and electronic music. I’m always looking for opportunities to collaborate with artists and help bring their ideas to life.

  3. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  4. A: As I’m continually exploring the SoundBetter community, I’m always interested in discovering talented musicians, producers, and engineers. Recommendations depend entirely on the specific needs and goals of each project.

  5. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  6. A: Digital. Modern digital tools provide incredible flexibility, precision, and consistency while allowing me to work efficiently with artists anywhere in the world. That said, I always appreciate the character and inspiration that analog gear can bring to a production.

  7. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  8. A: My promise is simple: I will treat your music with the same care and attention I would give my own projects. I focus on communication, honesty, and delivering the best possible result while staying true to your artistic vision.

  9. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  10. A: What I enjoy most is helping artists bring their vision to life. There’s something incredibly rewarding about taking a raw recording and transforming it into a finished track that connects emotionally with listeners.

  11. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  12. A: A common question is: “Can you make my track sound professional?” My answer is yes, but professional results come from a combination of strong performances, good recordings, and careful mixing and mastering. My job is to bring out the full potential of the music while preserving its character.

  13. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  14. A: One of the biggest misconceptions is that mixing or mastering can completely fix a poor recording. While professional processing can improve a track significantly, the quality of the performance and recording always plays a major role in the final result.

  15. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  16. A: I usually ask about the artist’s vision, references, goals for the project, release plans, and any specific concerns they have about their recordings. Understanding the client’s expectations helps me deliver the best possible result.

  17. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  18. A: Listen to examples of their work, communicate your goals clearly, and choose someone who understands your vision rather than simply offering the lowest price. A great collaboration is built on communication, trust, and shared creative goals.

  19. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  20. A: A reliable computer, quality headphones, an audio interface, a versatile microphone, and my favorite DAW. With those five tools, I could still record, edit, mix, master, and create music anywhere.

  21. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  22. A: My journey began with a passion for music production, mixing, and sound engineering. Over the years I’ve spent countless hours studying production techniques, analyzing professional mixes, and developing my skills through personal and collaborative projects. I continue to learn and improve with every project, always striving to deliver the best possible results for artists.

  23. Q: How would you describe your style?

  24. A: My style is clean, detailed, and emotionally focused. I aim to create mixes that feel powerful and immersive while preserving the artist’s identity. Whether it’s an aggressive metal track or an atmospheric progressive rock song, I focus on clarity, depth, and musical impact.

  25. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  26. A: Focus on the recording before focusing on the mix. A great recording will almost always beat a heavily processed recording. Good performances, proper mic placement, and a controlled recording environment make every stage of production easier.

  27. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  28. A: I primarily work on rock, progressive rock, metal, hip-hop, and modern electronic music. However, I’m always open to working on new genres and adapting my approach to fit the artist’s vision.

  29. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  30. A: My strongest skill is critical listening and problem solving. I don’t just mix tracks—I identify issues in recordings, arrangements, vocals, and production choices that may be holding a song back. My goal is always to bring clarity, impact, and emotion to the final result.

  31. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  32. A: I bring attention to detail, critical listening, and a strong focus on emotional impact. Beyond mixing and mastering, I help identify recording, arrangement, and production issues that may affect the final result. My goal is to help every song reach its full potential while preserving the artist’s unique sound.

  33. Q: What's your typical work process?

  34. A: My process begins with understanding the artist’s vision and references. I then organize and prepare the session, address any recording issues, and move into mixing or mastering. Throughout the process I maintain clear communication and provide updates when needed. My goal is to deliver a polished final product while staying true to the artist’s creative intent.

  35. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
