Q: Can you share one music production tip?

A: Take the time to get your vocal stacks right. A great stack starts with accurate performances and baseline tools (e.g. vocals that have been warmed up and a good mic setup!), not heavy editing. Many people think doubles should be noticeably different from the lead, but too much nuance can actually weaken the vocal. When recording doubles, I think its so important to match the phrasing, timing, and consonants of the lead as closely as possible. Tone and delivery can change, but not the rest! Tight, intentional performances will sound fuller, cleaner, and more cohesive than trying to fix everything after the fact.

Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

A: Most of my professional work has been in electronic music, particularly house, melodic bass, downtempo, and experimental projects. I've collaborated with producers on everything from intimate ambient records to dance and bass tracks, recording lead vocals, harmonies, and original toplines. My musical background is much broader, though. I studied Popular Music with an emphasis in vocal performance, where I sang in hip-hop, R&B, chamber choir, and contemporary ensembles. As a songwriter and artist, I naturally gravitate toward indie and alternative music inspired by artists like Adrienne Lenker, Jessica Pratt, Feist, and the raw honesty of Nirvana or Elliott Smith. Because of that mix of experience, I'm comfortable adapting my voice and writing to a wide range of genres while always prioritizing an authentic, emotionally compelling performance.

Q: What's your strongest skill?

A: My strongest skill is communicating emotion through a vocal performance or lyrical storytelling. I care deeply about serving the "point" of a song, and I focus on subtle choices in phrasing, dynamics, tone, and delivery that help lyrics feel lived-in rather than simply sung. Whether it's an intimate folk/indie track or an experimental electronic record, my goal is to create a performance and sound that stays with the listener after the song ends.

Q: What do you bring to a song?

A: I bring emotional authenticity first. Whether I'm singing a melody you've already written or creating one from scratch, my goal is always to make the listener believe every word. I gravitate toward performances that feel intimate, nuanced, and human rather than over-polished (though I certainly can and have done both!). Beyond the vocal itself, I think carefully about phrasing, dynamics, harmony, and texture as these are the small details that help a song feel fully-realized. I'm just as happy serving the producer's vision as I am offering creative ideas when invited, and always aim to leave a song feeling more emotionally connected than when I found it.

Q: What's your typical work process?

A: Every project starts by listening to the song in its entirety to ensure things click right off the bat! I am honest and want to ensure I bring excitement that's authentic to each project I intend to see through. It's important for me to understand the vision of the song. If yrics and a melody are already in place, I'll learn the song and discuss any stylistic references before recording. If im writing a topline, I try to gage the thematic details required and talk through the emotion, references, and direction the artist wants to go before I begin writing. Once we're aligned, I record multiple takes of the lead vocal along with any requested doubles, harmonies, stacks, and ad-libs. I edit everything carefully for timing and consistency, then deliver clean, organized stems (dry and processed if requested) that are ready for mixing. I keep communication open throughout the process to ensure care and offer revisions to make sure the final performance feels true to the intent of the project.

Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

A: I record from a treated home studio using an Audio-Technica AT4047 condenser microphone (though I have and Shure SM7B, too) through a Focusrite Clarett 2Pre interface into Ableton Live 12. My setup is optimized for clean, detailed vocal recordings with low noise, and I deliver professionally edited, organized stems that are ready to drop into your session. I use a selection of industry-standard plugins for light processing while always providing dry stems (and processed versions if requested), making it easy for producers to mix to their own taste. Whether it's single lead vocal or a full stack of harmonies and ad-libs that are needed, I focus on delivering performances and takes that are expressive, consistent, and release-ready.

Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

A: I'm inspired by artists who prioritize honest songwriting, emotional nuance, and distinctive vocal performances. Some of my biggest influences include Feist, Fiona Apple, Elliott Smith, Cat Power, Jessica Pratt, and Etta Bond. On the production side, I admire a wide range of genres from indie folk to experimental bass and have written toplines for a variety of tracks across the board. I love when producers bring intimacy and taste to modern production.

A: Most of my work involves recording expressive lead vocals and layered harmonies for producers, as well as writing original toplines and melodies. Whether it's a finished song or an instrumental, I help bring tracks to life with emotive, organic vocals that feel authentic and commercially ready.
