Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

A: I promise to treat every song with care, curiosity, and respect for its emotional core. I bring structure where it’s needed, play where it’s invited, and patience throughout the process. My goal is always to deliver lyrics that feel true to the artist’s vision while adding depth, imagery, and storytelling that elevate the song.

Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

A: People think a lyricist is just a slick wordsmith, but I see myself as an emotional scavenger: collecting feelings and moments and turning them into story.

Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

A: I ask about the core message of the song, the emotional tone, and the language they want to write in. I like to know how they visualize the song. For example, if it were a music video, what scenes or images come to mind. I also ask if there are any must-have words, phrases, or ideas they want included. This helps me align my storytelling with their vision from the start.

Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

A: A knife, basic survival first. An Etch A Sketch to draft ideas without wasting paper. A hand-cranked solar flashlight for late-night inspiration. A hand-cranked or solar-powered voice recorder to save lines before they disappear. A solar-powered calculator… don’t ask. And the hope that I’ll eventually get all my lyrics off the island and into the ears of someone other than Wilson.

Q: What's your strongest skill?

A: My strongest skill is turning emotions into vivid, story-driven lyrics. I think visually and abstractly, translating feelings into scenes, objects, and metaphors that listeners can step into. I have a natural instinct for shaping hooks and choruses, and I write comfortably in both English and Spanish. Most importantly, I adapt my storytelling to fit the artist’s message and the mood of the music, so the lyrics feel personal, cinematic, and emotionally honest.

Q: What do you bring to a song?

A: I bring story, emotion, and nuance to every song. I see songs as vessels for emotions, and my lyrics are crafted to give the song the right stability, so the music can carry the feelings to the listener. I aim to find magic in the ordinary and the ordinary in the magic, adding unexpected moments that make the lyrics memorable and engaging. I adapt my storytelling to fit the artist’s vision and the mood of the music, making sure every line serves the song.

Q: What's your typical work process?

A: My mind works in an abstract, visual way. When I hear a concept, I naturally connect it to an image or object and explore multiple angles for that metaphor. For example, "love" might make me think of a ceramic vase: fragile, beautiful, able to hold real or artificial flowers, rice, or marbles. From the many ways it could be interpreted, I select the angle that best fits the client’s message and the song’s emotion, shaping the lyrics so every line serves the story and the music.
