Jhyve on SoundBetter

Create records that feel emotional, modern, and undeniably professional — with a two-time Juno-nominated singer, songwriter, producer & engineer.

I’m Jhyve — a Toronto-based multi-disciplinary creative with 15+ years of professional experience helping artists turn ideas into fully realized, release-ready records that connect emotionally, sonically, and commercially.

I’m a two-time Juno Award nominee and CBC Searchlight winner — but more importantly, I specialize in making music that feels honest while sounding competitive in today’s streaming landscape.

My work has accumulated millions of streams, landed on Spotify’s Canada Viral Top 50, and includes collaborations with artists like Jessie Reyez, UNA MIA, and Aqyila.

Whether you’re an emerging artist building your sound or an established act refining your next release, I bring artist-level care with label-level execution — so your record doesn’t just sound good… it feels finished.
If you want your music to feel intentional, emotional, and professional, you’re in the right place.

Interview with Jhyve

  1. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  2. A: As an artist, I understand how difficult it is to navigate collaborative projects. Your art is your baby: why wouldn't you want to ensure that the people working with you have the same amount of care and consideration for your work as you do? As a fellow artist and collaborator, I promise to pay attention to every concern and question throughout the process. Furthermore, I promise to work as hard as I can to make your art shine.

  3. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  4. A: I typically work on R&B, rap and pop music. That said, a lot of my roots are in Jazz, so I love working on rock, blues, and jazz projects as well.

  5. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  6. A: My strongest skills are a collaborative mindset and experience as an artist. Having been an artist for so long, I have a strong sense of how artists communicate and am able to work with them with very little friction toward their goals.

  7. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  8. A: I bring 15 years of singing, songwriting, producing and engineering experience to every song that I'm involved with. That's years of understanding what connects and how to bring that forward in a song, both artistically and sonically.

  9. Q: What's your typical work process?

  10. A: My typical songwriting/producing process involves exploring until we find a vibe, lyric, or melody that feels catchy and interesting. From there, we continue to follow our curiosity as we flesh out the song, staying true to what connected us to it in the first place. With mixing, I like to have a quick consultation with my clients to get a sense of their goals. Once I understand how the artist would like their song represented. I get to work on building out the mix with busses, gain staging, volume, and panning. From here, it's a back-and-forth dialogue with the artist to ensure my creative choices remain within their vision.

  11. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  12. A: The most common work that I do is songwriting, producing, and engineering for my clients.
