Interview with Tryliss

  1. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  2. A: Everything.

  3. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  4. A: You're more than likely hiring for a project you deeply care about, I respect that and I'm here for you during the process and aim to deliver you something you'll love.

  5. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  6. A: My laptop, first and foremost. If I was forced to take one piece of gear, that would be sufficient enough that I'd successfully still be able to produce and record, I'd just have to lean into the lo-fi a bit. BUT given the luxury of 5 items I'd of course bring my mic, audio interface, XLR cable, and a pop filter.

  7. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  8. A: Songwriting and producing is what I was essentially designed to do. It's been over a decade since my first song came to me and the duration of that time has been mastering various elements of the craft. I began audio engineering and learning various digital audio workstations in order to replicate the music happening in my mind which comes in abundance and overflow, hence why it brings me a lot of joy to provide this service to others and see what magical things I can provide to someone's work.

  9. Q: How would you describe your style?

  10. A: I would say the underlying nature of my songwriting no matter the genre is musicality. Are you able to enjoy what you hear the first time you listen versus having to adapt to it. No matter the abstract, you can always put things together and find rhyme and reason.

  11. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  12. A: I always imagine myself writing songs with or collaborating with certain artists I feel have the same musical intuition as me. A couple examples would be Artemas and Bad Omens, different genres but I agree with the choices they make for topline, lyrically I differ a bit in terms of subject matter unless given a certain prompt.

  13. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  14. A: Trust what comes to you.

  15. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  16. A: Alternative, Pop, Rock, Metal, Blues, Moody tracks.

  17. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  18. A: Coming up with a melody; Vocals.

  19. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  20. A: Sing-ability, catchiness, and an addictive quality.

  21. Q: What's your typical work process?

  22. A: I will usually hear an instrumental or beat and immediately the topline melody for it is apparent to me. Typically, this will come out in a stream and then I will either already have lyrics of I will naturally start to fill lyrics in afterward.
