Songwriter/producer with 40+ years crafting authentic Americana rock. Multiple album releases + tracks placed in major ad campaigns and streaming globally. I bring musicality, warmth, and emotional truth to every project — not just loud mixes, but songs that feel human. Let’s create something lasting.
I’m Mike Echlin — songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist with four decades behind the keys, guitar, bass, and board. I’ve spent my life creating music that blends Americana grit with melodic rock and emotional storytelling. I believe a great song isn’t built from plugins or presets — it comes from lived experience, taste, and intention. My job is to help artists translate what they feel into something the world can hear.
I’ve released multiple albums and singles, including The Way Home, Verify Human, and Soul Surrender (2024), with music distributed worldwide and licensed for major ad campaigns. I’ve written hundreds of songs across 40+ years, performed live, collaborated with musicians across genres, and produced tracks from raw voice memos to polished masters ready for release. I know how to take a fragment of an idea and turn it into a definitive statement.
My approach is simple: serve the song. I listen deeply, ask the right questions, and build arrangements that elevate your voice instead of overshadowing it. When we work together, you’re not just hiring a session player — you’re getting a partner who cares about the emotional core of your track, the arc of the production, and how it will land with the listener.
If you want music that is honest, human, and built to last — let’s make something worth remembering.

I couldn’t be happier with the work Mike did on my song! He understood exactly what the track needed and added elements that made it fuller, richer, and more emotional. His communication was great, and the final mix sounds incredible! Truly grateful for his talent and expertise!

I sent an up and coming artist to Mike to help produce and record several songs she was developing. Mission accomplished!

I reached out to Mike to help me get over a “creative hump” as I was finishing an original song. Mike was generous to have a listen and within hours sent me back an amazing piano track that was perfect! The track maintained the feel and tone of the song while adding a fresh dimension that really supported/highlighted the main melody. Mike brings the talent, experience and ear to elevate a project beyond expectation.
Interview with Mike Echlin Music
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Finding a collaborator that can augment your skillset, could be the one thing that gets you to the next level.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Acoustic guitar, bongo, bass guitar - just need 3.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I have been a musician since age 7. Took 10 year of classical and jazz piano. Did two semesters of Jazz Improv at St. Xavier College at age 15. Started writing and recording at age 13. I have recorded and/or mixed over 1000 songs.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I can coach artists and learn at the same time. I want my clients to feel like they found the best musical partner possible.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would love to have worked with Tom Petty. He had an endless grasp on deep songwriting and arrangement. Like the yoda of music.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Do a straight gain mix as soon as possible. No plugins, no effects. Just a dry and balanced mix. This will give the bones of the song and help with the arrangement and any additional writing.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I have worked on Americana, folk, country, rock, hard rock and blues.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Technically, it's piano compositions. However, being a collaborative co-writer is the highest value for my clients.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring a fresh perspective and melody. I believe strong melodies are the foundation for any song.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I like to work quickly because I believe the muse disappears when everything is over-thought. I have a high degree of technical fluency and can accomodate most workflows.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I use Logic Pro and have a professional studio complete with a live drum room.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I truly love all kinds of music. I have studied the production work of Brian Eno, Peter Collins and Rick Rubin.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I have worked with new artists and established artists in many capacities. My studio has a live drum room and I also a classically trained pianist. I specialize in writing and arranging full songs along with the master production.
