Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: If you are a soul, funk, blues, or jazz artist, I'll be very happy to collaborate! :) This kind of music inspires me a lot :D.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Never forget to keep your guitar in tune! :)
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I love to work for pop, blues, soul, funk, hard-rock, jazz, jazz-fusion songs! By contrast, if you're looking for a country guitar part, I'm not the guitarist you're looking for.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: in one word : melody! I love good themes, melodic solos (for example, you can listen to Vito Bratta's solo of "White lion - Little fighter" ). I will bring nice melodies/themes in your song.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I'm someone who loves "musicality". For me, music is a true langage, where words are replaced by notes. I will add m what I call 'Music DNA" to your song. I will bring to light your harmony, paying attention to your lyrics, etc.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: First of all, I listen to the track with my headphone, 5-7 times (no guitar in hands), and imagine some guitar licks, I pay attention to structure, feeling, effects, energy, ... Next, I put the backing track in my DAW, plug in my guitar, and start improvising with the backing track, to find some "good start points". Then, I record a first draft, and propose it to my client. From there, I listen carefully to his comments, and try to make the guitar sounds like he desires. :)
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I'm actually using 2 custom made electric guitars : - 1 "Grand Master Guitar" , loaded with HSH Joe Barden custom pickups designed especially for Asim Can Gunduz (Awesome John). - 1 De Gier Reflection : A De Gier custom Guitar loaded with 2 custom De Gier P90. With those 2 guitars, I can approach a large range of sounds! I owe 1 Eastman acoustic guitar.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: My guitar heroes are Larry Carlton, Scott Henderson, Robben Ford and Carl Verheyen. I love the music they make! It inspires me a lot in my work. When I think about music production, I think about Steely Dan. The way they work inspires me, looking for perfection, working with lots of great session musicians,...
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Not yet :)
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What type of sound do you want?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Well, first of all, send a mp3, I'll say if I can do that or not. :)
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: 1. my acoustic guitar 2. a bottleneck 3. A pick 4. A Capo 5. Mary Poppins's purse :D
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started the classical guitar at 9, and the electric guitar at 14. I had my first gig at 16 and I had a revelation, I want to play guitar as much as I can! I did study in Guitar Tech (Acton) and learnt a lot as autodidact. I've been working in Music Industry for the past 10 years (I'm 34). I worked a lot as studio musician. Today, I decided to start my own home studio, and... here I am :) !
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Mmmm, It seems like I've been listening a lot to Slash's and Larry Carlton's solo. I love to record clean guitar solos! :)
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: The main job I'm used to do is recording solos for my cients. They send me the track, and then I do a research process, sending some ideas I have and finally record all the solo. Otherwise, I've been asked to do some overdubs, jingles, rythmic parts.
