I’m Ian, a professional drummer with more than 36 years of experience behind the kit, and personally recommended by one of the UK's top drummer, Steve White (The Style Council, Paul Weller)— a journey that’s taken me from my very first drum kit at age 8 to playing on cruise ships, in theatres, studios, and live venues across the UK. I began playing drums as a child, inspired by my father’s hobby kit and encouraged by early lessons with Hampshire drum tutor Albert Cooper. By 14 I was playing in bands, and by 18 I was already working on cruise ships, earning a living from my passion. Over the decades, I’ve cultivated a diverse career: studio sessions, theatre shows, television and radio work, and frequent short-notice “depping” for bands across the UK.
I’ve also taught at an elite level. I studied with the famous late Bob Armstrong (Mapex artist) and became a clinician and visiting faculty tutor for Echo Factory Music Academy until it's change of purpose a few years later.
In 2009, I was invited by Vic Firth to join their international education team. I am officially endorsed by Evans heads, ProMark sticks, Cymbomute, and Tunerfish, and I regularly run clinics for schools, drum retailers, and youth organisations. I’ve worked on high-profile theatre productions such as Jesus Christ Superstar, Spamalot, The Bodyguard, and countless professional pantomimes.
