    Interview with Wavy Zay

    1. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

    2. A: Right now I’m focused on dropping my first EP while also locking in on a few collaborative projects with other artists and producers. I’m building a solid lineup of releases and sharpening the overall sound for this next chapter.

    3. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

    4. A: I promise to deliver clean, fast, and fully radio‑ready tracks for every artist, in any genre. My goal is to make sure your music sounds polished, competitive, and true to your vision every time.

    5. Q: How would you describe your style?

    6. A: My style is wavy, energetic, and vibe‑driven — a blend of smooth textures and lit, high‑impact moments that make every track feel alive.

    7. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

    8. A: Future and Lucki are at the top of my list. Both artists have a melodic approach but still carry that raw, underground energy that sets them apart from the mainstream. Their sound is unique, authentic, and leaves plenty of creative space for a producer to build something special.

    9. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

    10. A: EQ and compression matter, but the real skill is trusting your ears and your instincts. Technical tools shape the record, but your intuition tells you when a track has that “hit” energy. If it moves you, it’ll move someone else.

    11. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

    12. A: I usually work on Detroit and Cali‑influenced beats — that West Coast rhythm blended with a Southern flow. It creates a unique pocket that’s melodic, gritty, and still rooted in that underground energy.

    13. Q: What do you bring to a song?

    14. A: I bring energy, impact, and culture to every record. I add the oomph a track needs to hit, and I make sure the vibe stays authentic to the roots and the artist’s identity.

    15. Q: What's your typical work process?

    16. A: My typical work process starts with setting up and prepping all my studio gear to make sure everything is running smoothly. Once that’s locked in, I set up my vlogging and livestream equipment so I can capture behind‑the‑scenes footage from the session. After the technical side is ready, I help the artist get prepared by checking levels, testing the mics, and making sure the environment feels right. From there, we lock in and let the creativity flow.

    17. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

    18. A: My studio setup is built for versatility and quality. I use an MXL 990/991 microphone package paired with an Avid Fast Track Solo interface for clean, reliable recording. The room is powered by a 2400‑watt PA system with four 15” powered speakers, all routed through a 12‑channel Yamaha MG12XU mixer. I’ve got multiple mics and stands ready to go, plus a full Tama 6‑piece drum kit with cymbals for live sessions. On top of that, the studio is stocked with a wide range of tools and instruments so artists can create freely — whether they’re recording live with me or sending in stems for mixing and mastering.

    19. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

    20. A: My biggest inspirations are Michael Jackson and Lil Wayne. Their work ethic, creativity, and relentless drive to be the greatest push me to make an impact of my own. They set the standard for excellence, and that motivates me to keep leveling up.

    21. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

    22. A: The most common work I do for clients includes recording, editing, and cleaning vocals and beats. I also help artists develop their sound, guide them through songwriting, and teach them the business side of music. On top of that, I keep the energy right in every session so the creativity can flow naturally and the artist can perform at their best.

    23. Q: Analog or digital and why?

    24. A: I prefer digital for the workflow and precision, but there’s no denying analog has a more natural, musical character. It brings a depth and warmth that digital can’t fully replicate, so I use both depending on what the record needs.

    25. Q: What's your strongest skill?

    26. A: My strongest skill is my perfectionism. Over time I’ve learned to balance that drive with the understanding that true artistry lives in the imperfections — they’re what make both the music and the artist feel real and complete.
