Interview with Ferk Rodriguez

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: One of the projects I’m most proud of is a song called ¡Hola papito!. I needed the emotional impact of a child’s voice, but I didn’t have a real vocalist to perform it. Instead, I crafted the entire performance using Suno’s AI, guiding every phrase and emotion through my prompts until the delivery felt authentic. The most rewarding part is that listeners still feel the message, even though the voice was created digitally. That’s the standard I strive for—emotion so real it transcends the tools used to create it.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: Right now I’m fully focused on chasing my dream: writing songs, shaping my own sound, and developing music that carries real emotion and storytelling. I’m working on multiple projects at the moment, from lyrical concepts to full vocal productions, and every track pushes me closer to the artist and creator I want to become.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: SoundBetter is a huge and incredibly talented community, but I don’t personally know any specific artists on the platform. What I do is listen carefully to what each client needs and then guide them toward the type of professional that would best fit their vision. My priority is always to make sure every client finds exactly the sound they’re looking for.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: I love the sound of acoustic music, but I’m also fascinated by technology. What I enjoy most is the ability to create digital sounds that feel almost acoustic — warm, natural, and expressive. It makes me proud to blur that line with my compositions, to the point where you can’t tell whether a vocalist is real or digitally crafted and guided by my prompts. Digital tools give me the freedom to shape emotion with precision, while still capturing the organic feeling I love from acoustic sound.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: My promise is simple: I will treat your song with the same emotion, intention, and care as if it were my own. I promise to listen to your story, understand what you want to express, and translate that into lyrics and melodies that feel honest, powerful, and true to you. I’ll keep the communication open, stay committed through revisions, and shape the song until it sounds the way you imagined — or better. Above all, I promise to give you a final piece that carries heart, clarity, and genuine emotion.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: What I love most about my job is the moment when I listen to a finished song and feel the vibrations run through my spine. Hearing the emotion I wrote — the exact feeling, the intention, the story — come to life in sound and interpretation is indescribable. It’s the magic of seeing something that lived only in my mind become real. That connection between idea, emotion, and music is what keeps me creating.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: 1. “Can you match the emotion or style I have in mind?” Absolutely. Emotion is the core of my work. If you tell me what you want the listener to feel — heartbreak, strength, nostalgia, empowerment — I can shape the lyrics and melody around that mood. 2. “How much direction do you need from me?” As much or as little as you want. Some clients come with a full story; others only have a title or a feeling. Either way, I know how to turn that into a complete song. 3. “Can you work in different genres?” Yes. My strengths are Regional Mexicano, Latin pop, emotional ballads, and narrative-driven songs. I adapt my lyrical and melodic style to fit the sound you’re looking for. 4. “How long does it take?” I work fast and intentionally. Most songs take a few days, depending on revisions and the level of detail the client wants. 5. “Can you revise it if I want changes?” Of course. Songwriting is emotional, and I want the final version to feel right for you. I’m open to adjustments until we get there.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: The biggest misconception is that creating songs from a mobile workflow is “easy” or “less artistic.” People sometimes assume that because I don’t use a traditional studio setup, the work requires less skill. The truth is that emotion, storytelling, and melodic intuition don’t come from gear — they come from the creator. Writing a powerful lyric, finding the right phrasing, shaping a melody, and capturing the soul of a client’s idea takes intention, sensitivity, and a lot of revision. My process may look different from a conventional producer’s, but it’s far from simple. It’s focused, emotional, and highly creative — and it delivers songs that feel honest and alive.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: I start by asking questions that help me understand the heart of the song. Some of the key ones are: 1. What emotion do you want the listener to feel? Sadness, strength, nostalgia, betrayal, empowerment — this guides everything. 2. What’s the story behind the song? Even a small detail can shape the entire direction. 3. Do you have a reference song or artist in mind? This helps me match the mood, pacing, and style you’re looking for. 4. Which lines or ideas are most important to you? I want to protect the core message and build around it. 5. How personal do you want the song to be? Some clients want something universal; others want something intimate. 6. What’s your preferred level of collaboration? Some want updates at each step; others prefer to let me create freely. These questions help me understand not just the song, but the person behind it, so we can create something honest and meaningful together.

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: My advice is simple: look for someone who understands your emotion, not just your genre. A good creator doesn’t only deliver lyrics or melodies — they listen to what you really want to say. When you work with me, the process is collaborative. I encourage clients to share their story, their feelings, and even small details, because those are the pieces that turn a song into something personal and meaningful. If you're looking to hire someone like me, choose a provider who is: open to communication, patient with revisions, focused on emotion, and willing to shape the song until it feels right for you. Creativity isn’t about rushing; it’s about connecting. When the artist and the writer are aligned, the song becomes unforgettable.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: I’m a mobile creator, so my essential gear is simple and creative-focused. If I were on a desert island, I’d take: 1. My smartphone – my main tool for writing, recording ideas, and shaping melodies. 2. High-quality headphones – for clean monitoring and detailed listening. 3. A portable power bank – because inspiration lasts longer than batteries. 4. A small notebook – for writing lyrics, concepts, and story ideas by hand. 5. A lightweight Bluetooth speaker – to test how ideas feel in a natural, open environment. My workflow doesn’t rely on a big studio; it relies on creativity, emotion, and the ability to capture ideas wherever I am — even on a desert island.

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I didn’t follow a traditional music path. I started as a writer and storyteller — creating poems, short stories, and later full books. Over time, that love for words naturally evolved into songwriting. I’ve been writing music for several years, but I fully committed to creating songs consistently in the last couple of years. During that time, I developed my own workflow: writing lyrics, shaping melodies directly from my phone, and refining songs through an iterative creative process until they carry the exact emotion I’m aiming for. Even without a conventional studio background, I’ve built a strong foundation as a lyricist, melody creator, and storyteller. My path has been unique, but it’s given me a clear identity — I create songs that feel honest, emotional, and personal.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: My style is defined by storytelling, emotion, and versatility. I move naturally across genres because I don’t write formulas — I write stories. I focus on three main strengths: 1. Narrative, character-driven songs Songs like Hola Papito, La Robamaridos, and Dame un Segundo más, where every line builds a vivid story full of personality and drama. 2. Epic, emotional, and romantic songs Songs like Todavía Estoy Aquí and ¿Quiéneres tú para juzgarme a mi?, where I blend poetic lyricism with powerful emotion and a cinematic feel. 3. Genre flexibility I shift comfortably between regional Mexican, pop, ballads, and more epic styles — always keeping my own lyrical identity at the center. Overall, my style turns real emotions into songs that feel human, honest, and unforgettable.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: I’d love to work with Christian Nodal someday, but honestly, I don’t think my current songwriting style fits the direction he’s taking right now. The artist who I truly believe could bring my songs to their fullest expression is Guadalupe Esparza from Bronco. He has a unique way of delivering emotion — raw, masculine, poetic, and real. His voice carries stories with weight and sincerity, and that matches perfectly with the kind of lyrics and melodies I create. Working with him would feel like the ideal blend of storytelling, nostalgia, and powerful interpretation.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: One of the most powerful tips I can share is this: focus on the emotion first, and the technical details second. A song connects when the feeling is clear. Before worrying about effects, layers, or complexity, make sure the melody and the message are strong. Even with a simple setup — like recording ideas on a phone — you can shape a great song if the emotional core is solid. Once the feeling is right, then refine the tone, arrangement, and texture. If the heart of the song works, everything else becomes easier.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: I usually work on Latin music with a strong focus on Regional Mexicano, including styles inspired by Christian Nodal, Espinoza Paz, and Joan Sebastian. I also create songs in Latin pop, acoustic storytelling, and melodic styles influenced by artists like Ricardo Arjona and La Oreja de Van Gogh. My main strength is crafting emotional lyrics and melodies that feel close, honest, and expressive — no matter the genre. But most of the songs I work on have a Latin, heartfelt, and narrative-driven sound.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: My strongest skill is turning emotions into clear, memorable lyrics and melodies. I can take a feeling, a story, or even a single sentence and transform it into a song that sounds intentional, emotional, and alive. I’m great at hearing the “soul” of what someone wants to say and shaping it into lines, phrasing, and melodies that connect. My workflow is fast, creative, and very intuitive — I know how to guide a song toward the mood and message it needs. In short: I make ideas feel like real songs.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: I bring emotion, storytelling, and intention. My strength is taking an idea — even a small one — and turning it into a song that feels personal, honest, and alive. I write lyrics with meaning, create melodies that carry emotion, and shape the direction of the track through an iterative creative process until everything fits the feeling we’re aiming for. Because I work from a mobile setup, my focus isn’t on gear — it’s on clarity, creativity, and connection. I bring my own voice, my perspective, and a unique way of crafting songs that blend narrative, melody, and modern workflow. There may be many people experimenting with prompts today, but no one writes or creates with my emotional style, my phrasing, or my lyrical identity. What I bring is simple and powerful: a song that feels real.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: My process starts with the idea — a feeling, a story, or a message the client wants to express. I write the lyrics, shape the concept, and record melodic ideas directly from my phone. From there, I refine the song through an iterative prompt-driven workflow: adjusting the tone, arrangement, mood, and vocal direction until everything feels aligned with the emotion we’re aiming for. I keep the client involved through updates, options, and variations so we can build the final version together. Even though my workflow is fully mobile, it’s intentional and precise. I focus on capturing honesty, clarity and emotion rather than relying on heavy gear. The goal is always the same: turn the idea into a song that feels alive, unique, and true to the artist.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: My studio is fully mobile — I create everything from my phone. I write my lyrics, record my melodic ideas, and shape the arrangement through an iterative prompt-based process until the song sounds exactly how I imagine it. Even though I don’t use a traditional condenser microphone, I’ve perfected a clean recording workflow on mobile that lets me capture clear, expressive vocals and develop songs quickly. My focus isn’t on flashy gear — it’s on creativity, storytelling, and getting the emotion right. Many people may work with prompts today, but no one writes, sings, or creates the way I do. My setup is simple, intentional, and powerful because it allows me to turn ideas into finished songs with honesty and precision.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: I’m inspired by artists whose songwriting is honest, emotional, and timeless. Some of my biggest influences are Christian Nodal, Juan Gabriel, Joan Sebastian, Ricardo Arjona, La Oreja de Van Gogh, Espinoza Paz, and even bands like Metallica, who showed me the power of intensity and musical identity. I admire musicians who tell stories with depth, who mix poetry with melody, and who create songs that stay with you for years. Their work pushes me to deliver performances and lyrics that feel authentic and unforgettable.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: I mostly help artists bring their ideas to life through lyric writing, vocal performance, and full song creation. Many clients come to me with a concept, a melody, or just a feeling they want to express, and I turn it into a polished, emotionally powerful song. I specialize in Latin music, regional mexicano, R&B, pop, and storytelling-driven lyrics, always delivering vocals with character, intention, and professional quality. I'm also frequently hired to re-write lyrics, improve flow, adapt songs to a specific style, and create hooks that stick. Whether it’s a full track, a verse, or a detailed vocal performance, my goal is always the same: make the song feel alive.
