Pop Punk Mixing Engineer

Luke Smithson Productions on SoundBetter

Hey, I’m Luke, a pop punk mixing engineer dedicated to helping artists sound massive and stand out in today's competitive industry. Having worked as a songwriter, producer and mixing engineer for 10+ years I know what it takes to help you get that pro sound that stands up next to the big names. Get in touch and let's chat about your project today.

Hey everyone, I'm Luke, a UK-based music producer, songwriter, and mixing engineer with over 10 years of experience in the pop punk and alternative rock scene. My goal is simple: to make your songs sound massive, energetic, and release-ready while keeping the emotion and honesty that make this genre so special.
I’ve had the privilege of working closely with top producers Seb Barlow (Neck Deep, WSTR) and Matt O’Grady (You Me At Six, Deaf Havana), and have collaborated with bands such as Two Year Break, Royals, and Autumn Fires.
My productions have accumulated over 5 million streams and received regular airplay on BBC Radio 1 and Kerrang! Radio.

I specialise in mixing and mastering for pop punk, alternative, metal and other sub genres of rock, crafting mixes that hit hard, feel alive, and translate perfectly across all platforms. Expect punchy drums, tight low-end, crisp guitars, and vocals that cut through with clarity and power.

Every project gets my full attention, from first listen to final master. I pride myself on clear communication, attention to detail, and making sure you feel heard throughout the process. Whether you’re chasing that polished State Champs / Neck Deep sound or something rawer and nostalgic, I’ll help bring your vision to life.
Let’s make something that stands out. Send me a message and we’ll chat about how to take your tracks to the next level.

Send me an email through 'Contact' button above and I'll get back to you asap.

  14. A: That everything can be 'fixed in the mix'

  15. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  30. A: Pop punk, pop rock & Metal

  31. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  32. A: Songwriting and producing. I love finding new parts, new sounds and experimenting to really bring a song to life and make it the best it can be. I am very good at communicating with bands to find out what they like and tailor my work to fit around that.

  34. A: Brilliant vocal melodies and hooks + Great guitar and synth layers.

  35. Q: What's your typical work process?

  36. A: Depends on the project. If we are talking mixing, generally I will load in the files and organise my session. I will then do a rough level mix followed by some simple panning. I will sort all the busses and routing and then begin mixing. Starting with drums, then bass, then guitars, and synths, percussion, fx and then finally vocals.

  37. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  38. A: I have a small home studio where I do most of my producing, a pretty simple setup with a desk tailored to fit my outboard gear, computer & monitors. I have a range of mics available. 39. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  40. A: Bands such as State Champs, Neck Deep, Point North. As well as producers such as Sam Guiana, Clint Murphy & Seb Barlow.

  42. A: Mostly I am working on full productions where I am helping co write songs followed by producing & mixing them.
