I specialize in mixing and writing modern pop punk / alternative songs that push the boundaries of music and genres. In every mix I do, I will push it to my limits and make sure it's creative, aggressive, and addicting to listen to.
I started as an artist producing my own songs and eventually moved into working closely with professional producers and mixers, investing over $10k into learning how high-level pop punk records are actually made and released. That experience gave me a strong perspective on what artists care about when they’re trusting someone with their music.
I now produce and mix for indie artists and run an independent label, Seaport Records, focused on helping artists cut through the noise. Having been on the client side myself, I know what it feels like to put real money into a song and want it handled with care, clarity, and respect for the vision.
I mainly work in the pop punk / alternative scene while still pushing creative boundaries with every song. If you’ve got a track you’d like mixed, don't hesitate to reach out!

Interview with Luke Romito
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I'm really proud of my band, happy hours and the music we have set to release soon. I was primarily a songwriter and performer on the tracks as we outsourced most of the production and mixing (I co-produced 5 of the songs). The reason I went with other producers is because I just wanted to be exposed to new perspectives that I could implement into my own work and see what it'd sound like. I produced all of our songs that are released at the moment, but didn't want to turn down the opportunity to work with my inspirations. I also think that the more perspectives that collaborate, the more unique a project will turn out. There's a logistical aspect to it too but I'm really happy with how that stuff turned out.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: My main project at the moment is building my label, Seaport Records. Our goal is to help independent artists cut through the noise through one-off releases. You provide the song and we provide the promotion and cover the promo budget. It's still very much in the testing phase at the moment, but towards the end of this year we will be setting things into full swing.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: I don't really know anyone of SoundBetter, but I'd definitely recommend working with Nick Roque or Pete Zen if you have the chance.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I like digital because there's so many more options and flexibility. With a plugin, you can download hundreds of plugins for $50ish/month in subscriptions, but that same amount of flexibility could cost $100k+ with analog gear. I respect analog users, but for my style digital fits best.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I'm relatively young for a music producer. I've been writing songs basically since fourth grade and started taking music seriously and releasing music in 8th grade. From there, I saved up my money to work with experienced producers to up my quality of work and learn production and then implemented the lessons that I learned. I've been consistently producing and mixing for probably the last 2-3 years now just for bands that I know and I'm still working on building up a portfolio now.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: I'll give 2 tips that really changed my work. The first one is that there really aren't any rules. Your song doesn't have to sound a particular way. The second thing I implement is to never force an idea. If a guitar part is really cool on its own, but doesn't fit with the song, you can save it for later, but don't force it.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I usually work on "modern pop-punk" music, but I'm open to new genres. I don't really like the term "genre" because the concept of genre is confining and really just something you use to promote yourself and get people to know what you're talking about. A good song is a good song regardless of genre. The elements I typically use in my work are usually centered around what we would call pop punk, though.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: With every song I work on, I try to push the boundaries. There's something like 100,000 songs released every day and a lot of those are going to sound the same. First off, I will not mark a song as finished until you are completely satisfied with it. Second off, I try to make every song sound unique. Although I promote myself as a "modern-pop punk producer," I like to think outside of genre. I listen to a lot of different genres and I'll take elements that I like and implement them into my work.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My studio is simple but effective. I use mostly digital gear between Slate Digital and Waves subscriptions giving me most of what I need. I really focus on the vibe of my studio to get it to fit my creative energy with kind of a dark-ocean aesthetic and also a happy summer vibe depending on what I'm working on.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Some of my inspirations in music production are Pete Zen, Andrew Wade, Dylan Garforth, and Nick Roque. I've been fortunate to learn a lot from working with Pete Zen and Nick Roque (408 guitarist).
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Most of the work I do is songwriting work for artists I'm in contact with but I'm in the process of transitioning to more remote mixing work.
