Interview with Skizerzz

  1. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  2. A: I will listen to them, understand what they need from me, and then I will try my upmost hardest to get the perfect result they want

  3. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  4. A: What I love most about my job is being able to create feelings and stories through music that connect with people and make them feel understood or uplifted.

  5. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  6. A: Have a clear idea of what you want and don’t be afraid to share your thoughts in detail. The more you can paint a picture of your vision, the easier it is for the provider to create something that truly matches what you imagine.

  7. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  8. A: Before getting into music, I had plans to pursue a career as a professional tennis player. When COVID-19 hit and lockdowns put a stop to that, I found myself with a lot of unexpected free time. I was already spending hours every day listening to music, so I decided to try making some of my own. Five years later, I’m still just as passionate about creating music and have no plans to stop.

  9. Q: How would you describe your style?

  10. A: At my core, I make melodic, emotional music that blends elements of pop and R&B. I’m drawn to writing songs that feel raw and honest - often about love, heartbreak, and self-reflection - and I like to keep that emotional depth at the centre of everything I do. A lot of my tracks have smooth, atmospheric production with acoustic or soulful touches, but I’m not afraid to experiment with new sounds. I take inspiration from artists who mix emotion with rhythm, and I always try to make my songs feel personal and relatable. I just know that I’ll always lean towards storytelling and emotion over pure dance or club music.

  11. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  12. A: A project I’m particularly proud of was a songwriting job I did for a country artist. I always enjoy stepping outside my comfort zone and experimenting with new genres, and this was my first experience writing in the country style. Despite it being unfamiliar ground, the artist was thrilled with the final song and said it expressed exactly what he had envisioned. That feedback meant a lot to me and reinforced the importance of versatility in my songwriting.

  13. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  14. A: At the moment I'm working on a house single, it's different from my usual Pop and R&B but it's coming out great!

  15. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  16. A: I don't personally know anyone on the platform, however I am always recommending it to my colleagues and friends

  17. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  18. A: They both have their right time!

  19. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  20. A: Q: How do you make sure you create the vision the customer is looking for? A: Before starting any project, I send the customer a set of detailed questions to help me fully understand their ideas and expectations. This allows me to get a clear picture of their vision and deliver a final product that fits what they’re looking for.

  21. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  22. A: People often try to overcomplicate songwriting and melodies. Sometimes less is more.

  23. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  24. A: My current studio setup features a Rode NT1-A mic running through a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 4th Gen interface. I’m using an Akai Professional MPK Mini MK3 for production and a pair of Kali Audio LP-6 V2 monitors for crystal-clear playback. Plugin-wise, I rely heavily on Waves, Soundtoys, and Antares - a solid combo that covers everything I need for recording, mixing, sound design, and vocal processing.

  25. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  26. A: - What message or story are you trying to get across in the song? - Do you have a reference track or artist that captures the sound you’re aiming for? - Do you already have lyrics in mind, or would you like me to write something from scratch? - How do you want the song to make people feel?

  27. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  28. A: Laptop, USB interface, mic, headphones and speakers

  29. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  30. A: I’d really love to work with The Kid LAROI - he’s one of the main reasons I started making music, and I really admire the direction he’s taking his sound.

  31. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  32. A: I’d recommend freestyling more, even if it’s just a single line followed by some melodic mumbling. It’s a great way to let ideas flow naturally and capture lyrics and melodies that feel more authentic and raw.

  33. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  34. A: Pop, Pop-Rock, Hyperpop, R&B, Hip-Hop, House, UK Garage, Country, Indie

  35. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  36. A: I’d say my strongest skill is connecting with emotion - both my own and other people’s. I’m good at understanding what someone is trying to express, even when they can’t fully put it into words. Whether I’m writing for myself or someone else, I try to capture the feeling behind the story and turn it into something honest and relatable. For me, the best part of making music is when a song truly reflects who you are or what you’ve been through

  37. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  38. A: I focus on bringing emotion, character, and replay value through heartfelt melodies and lyrics that connect. I bring catchy hooks, strong vocal presence, and story-driven songwriting that turns instrumentals into songs people remember.

  39. Q: What's your typical work process?

  40. A: I like to begin by diving deep into the client’s vision. I’ll ask them to share everything e.g., the feeling of the track, the story behind it, the sounds or artists that inspire them. I want to understand the emotion at the heart of their music. Once we’ve shaped that vision together and they feel confident about the direction, I move into the creative phase and start crafting the track that brings their ideas to life.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: Other than ones previously stated, some musicians who inspire me are Don Toliver, Drake, Tory Lanez and Chase Atlantic.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: I mainly write songs that capture real emotion and connect with people. Whether it’s pop, R&B, hip-hop, indie, or hyperpop, I focus on turning an artist’s ideas and feelings into something genuine and memorable. I love helping their vision take shape through honest songwriting.
