Interview with Tamara
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Don’t be afraid to let me know exactly how you want it done and trust me to do the rest. I have no doubt in the slightest that you won’t like the results.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: A huge lion king theatre production, I played Mufasa. I’m proud not just because of the performance but mainly the preparations beforehand, especially vocally.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: My first professional mixtape
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Not at the moment as I’m new to the platform.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: Pure satisfactory and mind blowing art to match any beat or genre given. That’s an assurance.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Simply being able to express myself in an art that I’m truly passionate about and sharing that through or with other talented individuals.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: 1. What is your style & desired outcome? 2. Are there any similar artists or sounds you can relate to? 3. What is the effect you would like this piece to have on whoever consumes it? (Target audience) 4. Have you worked with other writers before?
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Microphone, piano, violin, headphones & laptop.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I’m a new artist but a longtime songwriter/poet. I’ve been a gifted writer with a natural musical ear and perception since a very tender age however it’s something I kept to myself or within small groups for years.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I wouldn’t pin a specific style to myself per se as I’m very versatile and well rounded but if I was to one word I would use is empathy. I feel like in a musical sense I deal with what I feel and that translates into my personal work.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Doja cat because not only do I love her flow and uniqueness but the depth of her music. There’s meaning and sentiment to a lot of her tracks and they are carefully put together. She’s an artist with a style you don’t see much of in this day.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: I put huge emphasis on depth! Whether it’s through the lyrics or the sound. Simplicity too can be nice but the best pieces are an ensemble of Melodie’s, beats and other artistic layers.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Hip hop, pop, R&b, movie soundtracks and a bit of gospel
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Songwriting of any kind, on any topic.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: What I like to call a gifted touch, besides lyrical genius I feel music on a different level and that helps me to pick and choose what to put where and when.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: It comes naturally to me, I just sit in peace & quiet, play either soft or faint music/tracks in the background, and begin to work my magic.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I work from home, don’t have a studio. Go to professional studios
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, Future, Metro Boomin & Doja cat
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Songwriting
