Interview with Aven Rho
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I produced a Progressive House track where I handled everything from composition to mixing. I’m proud of it because the emotion translated exactly how I intended — it felt like a milestone in my sound.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I’m currently working on new Progressive House demos, some collaborations, and a few client projects.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Yes — I’ve worked with a vocalist here before and would recommend her for the right project. I also recommend other providers when I truly feel they can elevate the client’s vision.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital — it’s flexible, fast, and perfect for modern electronic music.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I’ll always deliver something polished, intentional, and aligned with the emotion they want.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Bringing ideas to life. Watching a rough concept turn into something emotional and full of meaning is the best part.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That producing or mixing is fast. Great music takes detail, intention, and revisions.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I ask for references, what they want the song to make people feel, and what the final goal of the project is.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Bring clear references and describe the emotion you want your track to give the listener — that speeds up the process and helps us lock in the vision fast.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Laptop, headphones, audio interface… and honestly that’s all I’d need.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started producing at 16 y/o and have been improving ever since. I spent years refining my mix techniques and developing a recognizable style. Now I focus on creating music that feels emotional and intentional.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Melodic, emotional, and clean. I focus on blending atmosphere with modern progressive energy.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Automate everything. Even small changes in filters, volume, or reverb can make a track feel alive and emotional.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Progressive House, Melodic EDM, and Pop.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Mixing. I’m very detail-oriented and work to ensure every element has purpose, space, and emotional weight.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Emotion, clarity, and intention. I focus on making every sound feel like it belongs exactly where it is.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I start by understanding the client’s vision and references. Then I build the core melodic idea, shape the sound design, and develop the arrangement. After that, I focus heavily on mixing to make every part feel intentional and emotionally aligned.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I work in a compact but optimized home studio. I use FL Studio as my main DAW, a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 interface, Mackie CR4-XBT monitors, and Sony MDR-7506 headphones. Simple setup, but powerful when you know it well.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I’m inspired by artists like Martin Garrix, Alesso, and Avicii — producers who know how to mix emotion, melody, and energy in a way that feels timeless.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I mainly produce and mix Progressive House and Pop tracks. Most clients come to me to give their songs clarity, intention, and emotional impact.
