Interview with ANFF3R STUDIOS

  1. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  2. A: My promise to my clients is to deliver the highest quality, both technically and artistically, ensuring that every detail meets the highest standards and that they are fully satisfied with the final result.

  3. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  4. A: What I love most about my work is making sure every project reaches its best version, with high-quality standards. I also enjoy the creative process and the constant learning, as in this profession, there is always something new to discover and improve

  5. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  6. A: When working with potential clients, I ask three key questions. First, I ask what they want to achieve with the song. Second, if they give me creative freedom to add my personal touch to the production. Third, what their expectations are both technically and musically. Additionally, I ask if it is a ghost production or a commercial production, to clarify issues of royalties and credits from the start

  7. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  8. A: My main advice for a client looking to hire a provider like me is to be very clear about their goals and references from the start. It’s essential to communicate the desired style, quality expectations, and timelines. This way, we ensure a collaborative process that effectively reflects the client’s vision in the final result.

  9. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  10. A: If I were on a desert island and could only take five pieces of equipment, I would bring my computer, an audio interface, my reference headphones, my microphone, and a mouse. This way, with a solid workflow between the computer, interface, headphones, and mouse, I could handle production, recording, and mixing, ensuring quality work even in a basic setting.

  11. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  12. A: I have 15 years of experience in music production, starting at a local level. In the last 3 to 4 years, I have focused on ghost production. Throughout these years, I have accumulated 5 years of experience in sound design, 5 years in mixing, and about 2 years in mastering. While I don’t provide formal credits, my solid track record in these areas has allowed me to develop a deep technical and creative mastery, delivering professional results in every project.

  13. Q: How would you describe your style?

  14. A: I describe my style as free, as I combine different genres depending on the production, always respecting the essence of each musical genre. It is an innovative style, where I aim to explore while still honoring the boundaries that make each genre sound as it should

  15. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  16. A: I would love to collaborate with Héctor Nasa, because his lyrics are coherent, his vocal level is excellent for the urban and afro style, and I’m sure that together we would create a truly authentic and powerful musical impact

  17. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  18. A: My main advice is not to limit yourself to a single style or musical genre; exploring different genres enriches creativity and elevates both technical and musical levels. Additionally, it’s crucial to keep learning continuously: read, research, and understand the reasoning behind each technique. When you master the technical side, bringing the artistic side to a higher level becomes easier. It’s essential to maintain a balance between the technical and the artistic, without losing that sensitivity, because that’s where the magic lies.

  19. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  20. A: As a ghost producer, I work across a variety of genres, with a focus on electronic, urban, and pop music, without limiting myself to just one style. I approach each project with a detailed analysis, balancing creativity with technical precision, and always focusing on modern music, especially in urban, pop, and mainstream sounds.

  21. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  22. A: My greatest strength is my ability to learn and my focus on technical aspects. I am passionate about deeply analyzing every detail, applying advanced techniques in sound design, mixing, and mastering, acquired through exhaustive study. I focus on balancing creativity with meticulous technical precision, shaping the sound as a whole, from production to mixing and mastering. In this way, I transform each track into a work of art, taking the technical into the artistic realm in a professional and objective way, without sacrificing the creative essence.

  23. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  24. A: What I bring to a song is a balance between creativity and technical precision. I focus on elevating creativity to the forefront, always balanced with meticulous technical rigor, so that I enhance the expressiveness the artist wants to convey. Every detail is carefully crafted, delivering the highest sound quality without interfering with the song’s original intent. In mastering, I strive to extract the maximum volume and clarity, always guided by a strong musical criterion and my auditory training, built on my years of experience.

  25. Q: What's your typical work process?

  26. A: My workflow begins by speaking with the client to understand their needs and gather references. If it is a production, I ask for examples and also provide my artistic feedback to reach the best possible agreement. In the case of mixing, I first ensure that the production is finished; if it is not, I give feedback so the client can improve it before mixing. After that, I receive the tracks, edit them, correcting details like clicks and fades, and then I start the mix: tuning vocals, static mix, automation—everything to achieve the best quality. For mastering, I first assess that the song is fully finished; I ask the client for references and provide objective feedback on how the track might sound, always ensuring it aligns with the genre. Then I carry out the mastering process, making edits, spectral adjustments, compression, expansion, and multiple advanced techniques to deliver a fully defined master. In ghost production, I follow all these steps but with an exclusivity contract to avoid any issues with royalties. Regardless of the process, I focus on delivering the highest quality, backed by my 15 years of experience

  27. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  28. A: My studio is set up with Presonus Eris 3.5 monitors (second generation), connected to a Scarlett 2i2 interface. I work with a computer and an external monitor, and the entire space is equipped with acoustic treatment, precisely measured, including clouds, absorptive panels, and diffusers, to achieve the flattest possible response. Additionally, I use Audio-Technica headphones for all mixing processes, ensuring precision in every detail.

  29. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  30. A: In music production, I am inspired by great producers such as Au5, known for his innovation, Fractal, who excels in dubstep, and Andy Green, producer of Keane. Additionally, Jo On The Beat, an emerging Colombian producer, is another key influence. When it comes to mixing, I am inspired by engineers Chris Lord-Alge, a global reference, and Luca Pretolesi, another key figure in the industry. For mastering, my references are Camilo Silva, a Colombian engineer, and SLatin, who has worked with the Hardwell record label

  31. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  32. A: The most common type of work I do for my clients is ghost production. I specialize in creating professional, custom music productions tailored to each project. In addition, I offer detailed mixing services, ensuring a perfect balance between elements. Finally, I provide digital mastering, ensuring the highest quality output, customized to the genre and the client’s goals.
