Interview with Elthon Guzman
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I played in a semi-big convention for my home church and it's associated churches in the west
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Working on timing and chops
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I think analog could get you to learn in a more effective way to move up to the digital world
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I'll do what I do with passion
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love that I get to worship and play music at the same time
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Drums, bass, guitar, and a computer set up.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've played at my home church for a little more than 10 years and now I've been venturing around.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I try to keep it clean and stay in pocket, though I need more practice with playing around fills.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Would love to be in a heavy band
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: CCM and I incorporate some heavy music practice
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I believe I have a good sense of improvisation
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: A foundation of time and rhythm so my fellow musicians could fall into place with me.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Listen to the music and try to learn it. So when I practice on my own I could have a better idea of what to practice.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: For now I just have a laptop with an interface. Still working on a studio.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I grew up listening to hispanic artists like Marcos with, Marco Barrientos, Hillsong United and artists like that.
