As a multi-instrumentalist (piano, guitar, bass, drums, mandolin, harmonica), singer, songwriter, arranger and mixer, I want to help you to get the absolute best out of your music. Whether it concerns an arrangement or a mix, I always work from a creative and problem-solving perspective!
Hi, my name is Chaim. Nice to meet you! My main genre is rock (varying from soft- to hard- and glamrock), but I also write piano oriented ballads. Nevertheless I also enjoy taking on new challenges in other genres.
I offer different services, like helping you with building a song from an idea or hook, recording different tracks (instruments, vocals) and mixing + mastering your songs.
I always strive for the clearest possible studio-recording, because I want the raw mix already to sound really good. That is one of the most crucial things that I've experienced. That's why for example I can also help you find the right guitar tone that fits the best for your songs!
I am an experienced musician, but I'm completely new on SoundBetter, so that's why I ask lower prices than average.
Even though I'm new here, don't hesitate to reach out to me, because I'm excited to see new talents and hear fresh music!
Send me an email through 'Contact' button above and I'll get back to you asap.

Interview with Chaim de Koning
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I haven't finished any projects yet but what I can say now is that I'm quite proud that I got a well balanced mix from a song of an EP I'm working on.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I’m working on my debut album for my band.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both, because I like the digital workflow of a DAW and I love the analog sound and feel.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: The freedom and creativity.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: I still haven't had any customers because I'm new on SoundBetter.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That I only play instruments and sing, because I'm also producing music.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Don't be afraid to contact me, because I'm open to new challenges.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: A grand piano, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, bass guitar and drumkit.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: As a musician, I've been around for many years. Currently I'm 19 and here and there I've had some gigs but not a lot. This year I'm planning to have more gigs. As a producer and mixer I'm relatively new, because I'm helping a friend with her first EP and that is my first producing job. I'm doing almost all of the instruments, mixing and mastering.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I would describe my style as 70s/80s/90s music with a modern touch.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: It would be a dream to one day make a song with the remaning members of Queen and Led Zeppelin, because they are the core for my inspiration.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Yes, work in layers. If you're working on an album, first record all the guitars for example and then move on to the next layer, let’s say bass guitar. Also, use your ears, it’s your song and your mix. You know what needs to be fixed.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Rock oriented music and piano ballads.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Perseverance when I run into a problem. I'm taking a step back, leave it for a while and come back to it later with a fresh mind.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring a combination of creativity, warmth and modernity to a song.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I usually begin with recording guitars and keys, then bass, then drums and then vocals. For mixing I usually begin with bass and then drums.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: The core of my setup is a pair of Yamaha HS-5 monitors connected to a UAD Volt 476 interface. I also have an Alesis Multimix 16 USB mixer.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I am heavily inspired by Queen, Elton John, Billy Joel, Led Zeppelin and TOTO. Smaller inspirations are Muse, Green Day, Nirvana, Supertramp, Passenger, Michael W. Smith, Adrian Snell and KALEO.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Arranging and recording.
