I believe the ultimate drum sound on tape lies in:
The physical properties and precision tuning of the drums themselves.
The drummer’s ability to “mix” the kit live through dynamic performance.
Rather than relying on close miking, gating, and post-processing to control every detail, I focus on performance and acoustics.

Drum Philosophy
The Bonham-inspired approach: room mics first.
Dynamic performance = live mix.
This is why I reject hardware dampening on shells, over-gating, and close-mic obsession.
