Interview with CHIKY
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I produced, mixed, and mastered a Brazilian Funk/Reggaeton single that connected Argentina and Mexico. I’m proud because it showcased my versatility and achieved an industry-ready sound.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I’m currently producing Afro House and Latin House projects, mixing and mastering tracks for international clients, and preparing new ghost productions.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: At the moment, I focus on my own services, but I’m always open to collaborating and recommending talented professionals when needed.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital. It gives me unlimited creative flexibility, speed, and portability, while still achieving analog-like warmth through plugins.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: To deliver professional, unique, and release-ready music that always exceeds expectations.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Turning an idea into a polished track and seeing how it inspires artists and connects with listeners worldwide.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Q: How long will it take? A: It depends on the project, but I always balance speed with quality and keep clients updated at every stage.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That producers just "make beats." In reality, it’s about creating a full experience of sentiments , arrangement, mixing, and delivering a song ready for release.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I usually ask about their musical influences, goals for the project, and how they want the track to feel emotionally.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Look for someone who truly listens to your vision and can deliver industry-quality results tailored to your style.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Laptop with FL Studio, MIDI keyboard, Sennheiser headphones, Apollo Arrow interface, and my sample packs.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started producing over 10 years ago, working with artists in Argentina and beyond. Since then, I’ve grown into ghost production, mixing, mastering, and live DJ sets.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Modern, energetic, and versatile. A mix of Latin roots with fresh electronic textures, always aimed at making people move.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I’d love to work with Bad Bunny or Bizarrap, because they push boundaries and create global sounds that connect with massive audiences.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Less is more. Focus on strong rhythm and clean sound selection — clarity and space in the mix make every element shine.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I usually work on Reggaeton, Trap, Afro House, Tech House, and Latin Trap, blending urban and electronic vibes for both artists and DJs.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Creating unique beats that combine Latin rhythms with modern electronic sound, and delivering clean, industry-standard mixes and masters.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring originality, energy, and a fresh sound. My focus is to blend Latin roots with modern electronic and urban vibes, creating tracks that stand out and connect with the audience.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I start by discussing the client’s vision and references. Then I build the beat, add melodies and details, and polish the arrangement. After that, I mix and master to industry standards so the track is ready for streaming and clubs.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I work in a fully equipped home studio with professional gear: FL Studio as my main DAW, Apollo Arrow interface, Rode NT1-A mic, and Audio-Technica monitors. Everything is designed for high-quality production and fast workflow.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I get inspired by producers like Bizarrap, Tainy, Skrillex, and Ovy On The Drums. Each of them brings a unique vision, and I love combining that inspiration with my own style.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I mainly produce custom beats and full instrumentals for Reggaeton, Trap, Afro House, and Tech House. I also handle mixing & mastering, making sure every track sounds polished and ready for release.
